Sorry for the late edition alas it wasn't the hot Summer ....

Q. Seen anything in the papers & mags ?

• Spotted the following items in my daily tabloid paper, The Sun ....

1. Take a naked actress ... I can't believe the hundreds of news links to the story of High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens, 18, appearing nude as a "tease for co-star Zac Efron, 19." So What ! The paper gives it a heading of HIGH SCHOOL NUDIE FOOL and tucks it away on an inside page not as a Page 3 girl. Meanwhile the net goes mad with the signs of some flesh - some pix out her breasts, it's not like the poor girl is seen in a porn film. Give her a break but what great publicity for this young actress ( 08/09 ).
2. A small pargraph titled BUFF JUSTICE tells of "A man made his his wife walk NAKED down a street over an alleged affair in Knjazevac, Serbia." Will the wife gets sweet revenge on a cold day ? ( 14/09 ).
3. A SUN SPOT paragraph tells of "BRAVE Plymouth Argyle footballers got their kit off for a calendar - to encourage men to check for testicular cancer." A good reason by all ( 15/09 ).


4. A couple of naked cartoons caught my attention ...
   1. The first has a naked couple answering questions to a man with a clipboard asking: "Is this really necessary for the home inspection pack?" Perhaps he heard they were naturists ? ( 15/09 ).
   2. The second has a naked wife on a table with the husband commenting: "You've not got the waiter's attention - you diverted it." Not the best way of attracting service ( 18/09 ).
5. Another SUN SPOT paragraph tells of "MOVIE buff Jim McBride has spent eight years chronicling all the nude women in 25,000 films for his New York website - helped by his MUM." Hey he needed an experienced eye ! ( 19/09 ).
6. Wednesday columnist Jane Moore has a section titled BRIT NUDE NOT RUDE about Britney's ex-husband claim she walks "around naked in front of " her two young sons. Moore asks "a mum being nude in front of her toddlers? Since when was that regarded as suspect behaviour? Thousands of women take baths with their young ones, but persumably , in puritanical America .. maternal nuditiy is considered deeply offensive." She ends asking bath wear of "a wetsuit and flippers" ( 19/09 ).


7. Programmes like Tarrant On TV ( ITV1 ) look at world tv and show us the funny nude stuff but also looks at more serious naked body issues as well. Meanwhile in the print world, this paper's Say No To Size Zero campaign is running to stop anorexia in the model world. In Italy to mark Milan Fashion Week posters show "emaciated Isabelle Caro, 27, ..who weighs less than FIVE STONE." The second street poster with her back turned has same message No Anorexia watched by passing cyclist and captioned Baring all.. the shocking poster. The paper uses SIZE ZERO HORROR IS LAID BARE and hopes Isabelle's bravery to show her body will give warning to aspiring models all over the world. Naturists & nudists accept people in all shapes and sizes but we hope with a healthy mind & body. Ms Caro should be praised and supported in her efforts to beat anorexia. Her naked body sends out a powerful message ( 26/09 ).

Q. Seen anything on tv ?

• Poor actor Simon Pegg got repeatedly asked by chat host Jonathan Ross whether he walked around his home naked. The Friday Night With ... ( BBC-1, Fri 22:35 ) host gave his comical solutions to the problem with visitors. I'm sure in his early tv days Wossy did a report from a naturist club and perhaps he's becoming a nudist in later life ( 07/09 ).
