Islay, (pronounced 'eye-la') is an island in the Atlantic off the shores of Scotland.
Islay has a few small ports, a rudimentary road, is flat and green with
many fragments of rock and bars of silver sands, small stone walls and
woods embosomed in rhododendrons.
In Islay you will always find Peace and Solitude.
Islay is where the McEwan family originated. They belonged to the McDonald clan, wore traditional clothing, worked both the land and the sea.
In the early 1830's they came to the mainland and settled in Govan, Renfrewshire which is now known today as Strathclyde.
