Lynn Knight led the group in a workshop on Endings.

We discussed the types of endings for stories. These include: The Barely There ending; The Real Life ending; The Surprise Ending; The Classic Denouement; and The Epilogue. We should avoid endings where nothing changes or where the change feel arbitrary rather than driven by the events in the story.

As an exercise, the group took opening lines from well-known novels and created an ending paragraph. Some of the results were amazing and well done. This is the type of ending we want for our work. A successful ending should leave readers with a feeling that they still have some work to do.
