Salat: Communication between Servant and God -As Revealed in the Quran.
Compiled by Zubli Zainordin

Salah or Salat, is a special word; it is from the Quran and describes a unique act of worship of those who have submitted to the One God. Salat is an abstract noun from the verb Salat and the person who performs Salat, is known as Musolluun, and the place of Salat is called Musolla.

Salat is understood as a communication and a special kind of communication indeed, between servant and Allah. It is one of the many acts of submission to Allah alone.

In the Quran the word for 'worship' is 'Ibadah', 'Dua is for 'prayer' and 'Sitru' is the word used for 'Idolizing'. But the word Salat is used for Allah alone.

In his life Zubli Zainordin had been exposed to many persons who have 'taught' him 'how to perform salat'. It was not until a few years and years ago that he discovered the Quran and by reading and understanding it, began to think: If Salat is so important, and if the Quran is a complete book, would he find in it a detailed explanation of 'HOW TO PERFORM Salat'? - Not the way people wanted him to, but the way God had commanded him.

After all, whose instructions can be better than God's?

As a result he organized the verses of the Quran relating to Salat and experienced an immense quantum leap forward, and now performs Salat they way God taught him through the pages of the Quran.

There are certain aspects of Salat which are different from the rituals most people are used to, but Islam is total submission to God, and as we are His servants, we should perform Salat, not according to our desires but according to the way God has commanded all the prophets and the believers.

Although the verses are mainly from the Quran, many references are given from the Bible to show that the prophets including, Moses, Joshua, Abraham and Jesus prayed in the same way prescribed in the Quran. This understanding of the Quran is communicated in Zubli's compilation.
