I admit that Madrid wasn't my favorite of the four cities we visited, but I can't deny the beautiful scenery outside the city.
During our trip to Segovia, we stopped at the Valley of the Fallen. A monastery lies underneath the cross in the mountain where Spain claims 5,000 civil war soldiers are buried.
Inside the monastery, we discovered the tomb of Francisco Franco, Spain's fascist dictator for 50 years. The monks celebrate mass every day at 11:00 a.m. and we had to leave. However, the view from outside the door right before a spring rain was pretty awesome.
