Goober Patrol are cool and they are my friends, or at least, I've met them several million times and they've stayed over my house, and I've stayed at theirs! WOW lucky you I can hear you all saying! Any way the Goobers, are really cool, nice people, they always get very drunk, I mean so drunk they are unconcious but they never throw up on ya carpet! They, always share their drink, although that is not to say that if you ever meet them you should pester them into giving you a drink, what I am saying is that they are sharing loving people, not at all selfish in any way.
Goobers all have there own little characters, and I'm sure they'll hate me if they find out what I'm saying about them. Tom looks like an EWOK, Tim looks like a GNOME and Si and Stu well they're brothers and they don't look anything like each other!
They have got millions of friends all over the world, yes because they are in a great punk band that have been all over the world BUT they are also extra specially nice, so noone can not like them. I mean, there are bands out there, that I've met, and then I've met other people who have also met them and we both agree on one thing and that is, that they were WANKERS, I daren't mention there names, because these bands are so sad that if they found out what I was saying about them they would probably sue me for slander!!! That's how sad they are!!!
Anyway, to the music of the Goobers, well to be honest, I didn't really like the last album, there were a couple of O.K. tunes but none that special. Vacation was great, especially the stupid cover of IRON MAN on the secret track at the end of Extended Vacation was cool too, but definately best of all is DUTCH OVENS it's fantastic, this is the Goobers how I remember them, when I first went to see them!!! TRUCK OFF is good too but not as classic as the aforementioned.
Goobers are strongly influenced by 'The Stiff little Fingers' who are another of my favorite bands, they cover SUspect device if you shout it out, but I think they are trying to get away from it, which is good in away cos so many bands are even more strongly influenced such as the 'Swingin Utters' and the 'Dropkick Murphies' and it would be a bit boring to have another one wouldn't it!
Goobers sound is very destinct, sort of chunky shouty poppy punk, with political songs about being pissed, some are funny, some are sad, if it wasn't for thier poppy, destinguished style they could almost move over to Emo punk, because of the lyrics, but then it could just as easily be stupid punk like Snuff or NOFX so Goobers have a massive versitality, that creates a fantasticly unique pop punk sound, the only worry I really have is that what's gonna happen after this last album? I haven't seen them for about a year now, are they being forgotten, I truely hope not!!
