Standish, Maine was originally called Pearsontown.
In 1745, Moses Pearson and company was granted a
parcel of land, as a reward for thier services, during King
George's War, by the General Court of Massachusettes.
Thirty years later, the town was renamed Standish.
The Old Red Church is a Standish historical landmark.
