I have a daughter registered with the DAR and a son who would be eligible for SAR through MAJOR JOHN DAVIDSON of "Rural Hill", Mecklenburg County, NC. Davidson was a physcian and a member of The Committees of Safety which met from time to time in Charlotte, NC. to discuss grievances and measures of relief brought about by the discriminatory laws against Presbyterians and the veto of the charter of Queens College in Charlotte.
When the Provincial Congress of North Carolina organized the State Militia on September 9, 1775, John Davidson was appointed "second major" in the Mecklenburg Troops.
