Stephen's Song

Devil's Marbles

I received a treasured gift today...
a trio of Raspberry Roses...
Raspberry of scent and hue...
Tied gingerly with a piece of baling twine,
as anyone would use satin..
And accented by a sapphire blue Jay feather
--collected in his travels..
His weathered hands placed the bundle gently in my arm...
His smile as wide as the ocean.....
Then....taking my palm.......
Placing a slate-gray, marble-sized pebble of odd shape...
"This was in my boot.." he said....
"And I endured it until i got to town...
all the while ..
thinking of you..."
Resting...and removing..he found the object of his curiosity...
For it was Heart-Shaped--And for a purpose.....**
