A Note from The Bench Warmer

I am putting together this site with Classic cards for others to enjoy. I am originally from St. Louis and love the rich history of base ball in the area. My favorite team cards to look for are the "St. Louis Whites" in the 87-89 Old Judge set. I had no idea that they even played. I would like to thank you for taking a look at my web site and think about helping me with it.

All I ask is if you have a scanner to make your cards available to show in the Card Museum. I will give you credit for you contributions.

Please let me know what you think.

I would also be interested in any other information on these sets, such as check-list and the number of poses for each player.

If you have any information that would be helpful, please E-Mail me at The Bench Warmer

Thanks
Mike Farris

19th Century Cards
Peck & Snyder

Cincinnati Red Stockings

Mort Rogers 1871 Scorecard
1871

Mort Rogers 1871 Scorecard with 3rd Baseman Harry Schafer on the cover. From the first year of the National Association. Features as good a matchup as imaginable with the Boston team (George & Harry Wright, Al Spalding, Ross, Barnes, Cal McVey, Schafer, etc) playing The Mutuals (Candy Cummings, Dicky Pearce, Joe Start, etc) Measures 5" x 3 1/4" and is meticulously scored. Advertising on the back includes an ad for Wright & Gould‘s Baseball Goods.  Gould was a teammate of Wright on the 1869 Reds. The card has a small non-obtrusive scrape inside near the top, there is also evidence of professional restoration at the spine where tissue paper is apparent when viewing through a magnifying glass. For a card that is generally offered with only a cover, or trimmed, this must be one of the most attractive copies known.
