A Note from The Bench Warmer All I ask is if you have a scanner to make your cards available to show in the Card Museum. I will give you credit for you contributions. Please let me know what you think. I would also be interested in any other information on these sets, such as check-list and the number of poses for each player. If you have any information that would be helpful, please E-Mail me at The Bench Warmer Thanks

Mort
Rogers 1871 Scorecard
1871 Mort Rogers 1871 Scorecard with 3rd Baseman Harry Schafer on the cover. From the first year of the National Association. Features as good a matchup as imaginable with the Boston team (George & Harry Wright, Al Spalding, Ross, Barnes, Cal McVey, Schafer, etc) playing The Mutuals (Candy Cummings, Dicky Pearce, Joe Start, etc) Measures 5" x 3 1/4" and is meticulously scored. Advertising on the back includes an ad for Wright & Gould‘s Baseball Goods. Gould was a teammate of Wright on the 1869 Reds. The card has a small non-obtrusive scrape inside near the top, there is also evidence of professional restoration at the spine where tissue paper is apparent when viewing through a magnifying glass. For a card that is generally offered with only a cover, or trimmed, this must be one of the most attractive copies known. |
