EARLIEST KNOWN PHOTOGRAPH OF OLDHAM TOWN CENTRE
This photograph is claimed to be the earliest existing photograph of Oldham Town Centre. The Combined lamp and drinking fountain was presented to the Town by the King Street Co-operative Society in 1859
This Photograph taken on May 9th '99 is taken in the same location as the drinking fountain in the old photograph above. The drinking fountain would have been just about where the 'Boots Chemist' is on the left of this photograph.
