Poetry

You are enjoying "Brothers In Arms"

I have written some poetry that I wish to share with all of you. Please feel free to share it with others. All I ask is that you leave it in the original form and credit me as the author. I hope you find some enjoyable.

My Blessed Lord (A Song)

Can you hear Him knocking,
Wanting to come in?
The Lord Himself is asking you
Time and time again.
He only wants to save you
And draw you close to Him.
He's calling you into the fold;
Won't you let Him in?
He's my Blessed Lord,
My Blessed Lord.
He's my Blessed Lord,
And my God.

Children can't you hear Him?
He's wanting to forgive,
To give to you eternal life
So that with Him you might live!
He only wants to save you,
So go to Him and pray.
I promise as I tell you this -
He won't turn you away!
He's my Blessed Lord,
My Blessed Lord.
He's my Blessed Lord,
And my God.

A Better Tomorrow

As I sit here, buried with sorrow,
I wonder if there is a better tomorrow.

For yesterday's problems are here for today,
I wonder if they will e'er go away.

The future's not here, but as for the past,
The problems are many, how long can it last.

"Let's live for today," I recite full of sorrow,
But God, will there ever be a better tomorrow?

Molly

I have thoughts that are happy and jolly
As I recall our old dog Molly.
When we weren't home, she'd sit by the gate
To await our return, no matter how late.

When others were gone, and I was alone,
If prowlers came near, soon they were gone.
For Molly was gentle but she had a bark,
That would scare anybody, in daylight or dark.

When night came upon us, and we were asleep,
Molly'd protect us, our refuge she'd keep.
I remember how sad, how she used to wail,
I remember how happy, how she'd wag her tail.

I miss all the warmth she gave to the yard,
Life without Molly, is awfully hard.
No dog was as faithful and good as my Molly,
Which makes life without her so melancholy.

I love that sweet dog that we used to own,
I wish she were with us, and never had gone.
I'll remember Molly throughout my days;
No dog will ever deserve so much praise.

Who Am I?

I look in the mirror,
What do I see?
An expressionless face
Staring at me.

No sign of bitterness,
Happiness or violence,
Just seemingly a face,
Eternal with silence.

I look at myself,
With nothing to say;
Yet I ask myself why
Do I look this way?

Who is this
Full of confusion?
Is this reality,
Am I an illusion?

Momma's Gone

When I look at her picture, I feel so all alone;
Why did she leave me to face life on my own?
Lord I feel so guilty for time I threw away!
If I could only touch her hand, and listen while she'd say.

She said, "Hon, you know I love you,
And I'm proud that you're my own;
But you'll have to go on living,
After momma's gone."

It's so hard to live without her,
I miss her so each day,
I think so much about her
And things she used to say.

There's no one like a mother,
And I know I'm not alone,
'Cause she resides within my heart
Even though my momma's gone.

...dedicated to my Mom

Grass

I get walked on,
Stepped on,
Tramped on,
Spit on,
Run on,
Even knocked down;
But after a rain
and a couple of days
I'll stand tall again.

My Boat

If I were a boat, I'd sail away.
I want to start sinking,
But instead I start thinking
My boat's coming in any day.

If you listen loud enough,
You might hear me sigh.
I've been waiting on that boat
So long I wonder why.

My heart's a-beating;
My toes are thumping;
My hands are sweating;
My head's a-jumping!

Why, you ask,
As if I didn't know,
Should my boat come in,
Where would I go?

Love's Cycle

In the beauty of the morning,
While all are still asleep,
I think about the one I love -
The one I pray to keep.

In the stillness that surrounds me,
I'm wondering what is wrong;
Am I suddenly losing him?
Will he soon be gone?

In the sadness of the evening,
I cry myself to sleep,
Thinking of the love I lost -
The love I prayed to keep.

A Day At The Game

The bleachers were full,
There sat quite a crowd;
And off to the side,
With her head high and proud,

Sat a fairly young woman
Who looked so alone,
Watching the kids,
Rooting them on.

She did not seem to mind
All the hustle and noise,
And when all was over,
She'd talk to the boys.

I asked why she came,
Then felt out of place,
Cause the hurt in her eyes
Was the look on her face.

She wasn't kin
To any who played,
So I was just curious
Why she always stayed.

She said,"Anything
that makes me smile,
Seems to me
To be worthwhile.

There's no one else
That I can see,
Who seems to have
A need in me.

So I come
And watch them play,
And for a while,
I'm far away

To happier times,
When I had my son,
Watching him play,
Having fun.

Now if you don't mind,
And if it's all the same,
I'll see you next week
For the next baseball game."

Angel in Celestial Flight

The windswept hair the breeze doth loft
Picturesque to living things;
Her voice so quiet, gentle, soft;
Birds in flight beneath her wings.

Angel whispers, sweet the sound,
Seems to make the world be bright.
Loving imagery, so profound
An angel in celestial flight.

Loving gestures doth she give
So flagrant with her loving touch
Heavenly beings - yes, they live
And care for us so very much.

The aura of the one so pure
Brushed by visionary light;
Endless time but to endure
An Angel in Celestial flight.

My Love

In everything that I attempt
And everything I do,
There's always someone in my thoughts,
That someone, Love, is you.

The future may embrace me
But all the hours mount.
The thing that we must do, my love,
Make every minute count.

And if, my love, we live for years,
Or just another day,
We'll be blessed with what we have;
We'll laugh and love and play.

And if God wills that I go first,
My love, please understand.
Know that when you meet me
I'll be reaching for your hand.

Angels

Angels are our guardians,
The keepers of our dreams;
We never know just where they are,
But ever close it seems.

Sometimes when I'm all alone,
I may let out a sigh.
But wherever there is love,
An angel flies close by.

Angels watch us closely,
And yes, all things they know,
Angels find a place for us,
When there's nowhere left to go.

The angels are here, each step of the way.
They'll be here by and by,
'Cause we're just angels in training
To spread our wings and fly.

Angel Whispers

I believe in angels,
Though with human eyes can't see,
They're always near around us,
Watching over me.

This may seem wrong to some,
An occurence you think rare,
But angels are all around us,
Through faith you know they're there.

Listen close, you still won't hear,
The whispers soft and sweet
Of angels all around us,
Though we may never meet.

Angel Friends

Have you had someone you care about
That's there for you each day?
They give words of encouragement
And help along the way.

Have you ever took a walk,
And ran into the sweetest smile?
Though you didn't know them
They made you feel worthwhile.

And then the one that you may love,
There are no words defined,
The depth of love inside you
That's very hard to find.

So there are all kinds of angels -
Celestial beings true,
And friends, a chance encounter,
And a loving man like you...
