Troop 296's Rules of Conduct

The purpose of these Rules of Conduct is to inform all Scouts and their families of a policy being enforced that is very necessary to operate the Troop in an efficient manner.  Because of the size of the Troop, we have decided to get these in writing to avoid any misunderstandings.

From time to time families will be called upon to assist with outings, planning events and other items so that the Troop can achieve their goals of providing a program that teaches the Scouts the principles of Scouting.  The Troop Committee appreciates the cooperation of the Scout families when called upon.

Scouts and their families can expect that the Troop Leaders will abide by the Scout law, motto and oath.  In return for this the Troop expects that the Scouts will also abide by the same.  The Troop Leaders expect a level of cooperation from Scouts so that no problem arises.

Poor behavior is disruptive to the Troop, so any conduct not in consistence with the Scout Law, Motto, and Oath will be brought to the offenders attention by one of the adults in charge and when deemed necessary brought before the Troop Committee for action.  Disciplinary action may include the requirement that the Scout and his parent/guardian meet with the leaders.  It may also be required that the parent/guardian attend all future meetings and outings until the Scout can prove he is able to adhere to the Scout Law, Motto and Oath.

The Troop Leaders welcome any and all suggestions and complaints.  So any Scout or family that has one must make it known to one of the Adults in charge and then it will be referred to the Troop Committee for action.  This way we can address any and all concerns, so that the Troop can continue to grow and serve the Scouts in the best manner.

We are proud of our uniform, therefore, all Scouts and Adults in charge shall be in class "A" uniforms at all times, unless previously announced otherwise.  This will include a uniform shirt complete with emblems, along with any Boy Scouts of America approved neckwear and hat.  Occasionally, we will require the red neckerchief (BSA stock #T00620) and red Troop hat to be worn, so everyone will need these items.

The Troop annual dues are $25.00 (twenty-five dollars), beginning in March of every calendar year.  March is the month our Charter renews.  The dues can be paid in $5.00 (five dollar) increments, until paid in full, or paid in full no later than June 1st each year.

Bonus Award:  The Troop will provide to the Scouts an annual award for Scouts that meet the following criteria.
