Ve n t u r e P r o g r a m

In July, 1998 our venture group hiked up Blanca Peek in CO.

Older boys of Troop80, may participate in the Venture Program. The scoutsmust be at least 15 years old and have attained the Star Rank to participatein this program. Venture scouts are grouped in Crews consistingof 6 to 10 scouts with adult leaders assigned to assist them. Theventure scouts enjoy rock climbing, hiking, and other advanced activites;in addition to the other activities of the Troop.

On Tuesday nights, the venture Scouts practice climbing techniques in the troop mini-rockgym and they also work on merit badges.

The organizational structure of Troop 80 allows a boy to enjoy the benefits only a large Troop can offer while keeping his day to day activities at the smaller patrol level. During most Troop activities, the ratio of boys to men is 4:1. On a typical campout, there may be 50 to 60 boys attending with at least 15 adult leaders also in attendance.
