General Info
AED here at the University of Kentucky has played an important role in guiding pre-med
students towards a successful career in medicine.
In terms of service activities, AED has volunteered at Shriner's Children's Hospital, the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital, the Mayfair Manor Nursing Home, and the American Cancer Society, just to name a few.
We have provided numerous enriching opportunities for pre-med students to learn about the array of resources available to them during their pre-med journey.
We have conducted guided tours of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and the Chandler Medical Center.
We have sponsored numerous practice test runs to better prepare students for such entrance exams as the MCAT, PCAT, etc.
We have had an outstanding history of guest speakers including representatives from Kaplan Educational Centers, UK Pre-Medical Advisors, and speakers in support of such programs as the Outreach Center for Science and Health Careers.
Yearly, we host meetings featuring representatives from the Admissions Offices of various medical schools.
During such meetings, students were able to obtain answers to important questions including:
What are the average GPA and MCAT scores required for admissions at UK Medical School? These are just some of the benefits of joining AED.
