BREAD
AND ORTHODOXY
The aim of the project is
to discuss the place bread takes in the Orthodox ritual tradition from
the theological, physical and gastronomic point of view. The characteristic
recipes for bread preparation, which are connected to the religious
rituals as well as those which have origin and are prepared in Orthodoxy
monasteries are also being collected. During the1997/8 the survey
“Bread in the Bible” was made. The aim of the survey is to single out all
the places in the Bible where the word bread is mentioned and to explain
theologically the meaning of each of these places. The survey will be the
part of the project, which should be finished by the end of 1999.
