I Like Cows
Copyright 1997 Wayne Severson

I used to live South, very far South
I used to live in society
But it wasn't the time, no, and it wasn't the place
Its just the nature of the human race
My life was good but the people couldn't, understand my ways
They figured I needed to be movin' on
If they don't understand you, they can't control you
And frankly that'll drive them out of their minds
They start it off with an evil look, maybe a name or two, kid stuff
But if you don't fit in they'll get to you

I like Cows, and they like me
'Cause I don't need society
I like Cows, and they agree
That we don't need society

So I moved West, way out West
Lookin' for a lover who will let me be me
I looked in the mountains, I looked near the sea
A lady to love me was not meant to be
Everywhere I go I see it, see it in their eyes
Then I start to realize
If I lay it on the line, and I bear my soul
I scare 'em, they don't really want to know
I never was alone until I, I spoke my mind
Now a friend I can not find

I like Cows, and they like me
'Cause I don't need society
I like Cows, and they agree
That we don't need society

Cows are just like you and me
Prisoners of what they say should be
Oh how we want to be free
But we're shackled like a slave of a primitive age
Cuffed by a cop and thrown in a cage
Chained to a wall we're expected to confess
To the crimes of the century we're the cause of this mess
Now you know we're guilty so you try to justify
And you send us to the slaughterhouse you know we're gonna fry
Oh Cows are just like you and me
Prisoners of what they say should be
Victims of so called humanity
I've got to get away, I've got to get away

I traveled North, to the bitter cold North
It seems I've traveled for eternity
I've lived in the plains, I've lived in the woods
I've lived in your city neighborhoods
It's all the same they want their friends to, think they're cool
They'll put you down and treat you cruel
No matter what I say, no matter what I know
No matter what I do they'll make me go
Of all the things I've seen, of all the things I've done
Of all the things I've thought I think I'll run

I like Cows, and Cows like me
'Cause I don't need society
I like Cows, and Cows agree
That we don't need society

Now I live East, very far East
I live in a land of mystery
There's a man I met, He was kind to me
An incarnation of civility
As we walk down the road, I let my story unfold
And he agrees life can be cold
I sit in the shade, of a Zizyphus tree
Finally there's not much to worry me
Here I'll finish my days, I no longer have to roam
The Himalayan hinterland is now my home

I like Cows, and they like me
'Cause I don't need society
I like Cows, and they agree
That we don't need society

Cows are just like you and me
Prisoners of what they say should be
Cows are just like you and me

Cows are just like you and me
