UNSHAFTED!!!
I gave the Yamaha my best shot. I tried for five years to duplicate Rick Giles’ success. I only partially succeeded. I have flown the N12 with the Yamaha but I must admit, it was a little scary! After watching Dick Starks fly the Taube and listening to his success, well I just had to go that route. Soo as you look at the photos, you will see the Yamaha thru the first flight of the VW.
I gotta tell you, and I’m NOT reimbursed for my comments, Valley Engineering is a joy to work with. Gene and Larry Smith are true gentlemen. I really did not mind forking over the bucks for the engine after meeting and dealing with these guys. The engine package is firewall forward, prop included. The engine is tested and you get to visit Rolla, MO and fly your engine! You can also watch their prop machine (Culver) turn out beautiful maple props. Truly the transaction was smooth and a joy. Now, how many times can you say that about a major purchase?
