The World's Winningest Rider

On September 5, 1970, Labor Day, at Del Mar Racetrack in California, over 30,000 were on-hand to witness Bill Shoemaker break John Longden's world record mark of 6032 lifetime-wins by a jockey. The feat was accomplished on a filly named Dares J., who was owned and bred by Camilo Marin. Scroll down and read the official racing chart from the Daily Racing Form. In the winner's circle that day were John Longden, Babs Shoemaker, trainer Ronald McAnally, Mr. and Mrs.Harry Silbert and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Scheib.

The following year, Dares J was sold to trainer Frank Martin for owner Sigmond Somers.
