Lydia Blankenship lived in Pike Co. KY.
BEWARE! There are people who claim to know who the parents of Lydia Blankenship are.
PLEASE NOTE that they are NOT direct descendants of Lydia and have either,
1)hearsay, or
2)claim to have documents that no one has ever seen and they refuse to let anyone know where these documents can be found, so that others can check these claims.
The public documents that are available for Lydia Blankenship do not support any of these claims.
SO BEWARE, and get documents for ALL claims regarding Lydia Blankenship.

BEWARE of the following people who make a claim about her father or parents that are hearsay or incorrect.

BEWARE of the 100 years of Blackburns Census of Pike Co. KY on the Hale Blackburn Web Page, which makes a hearsay claim about Lydia's father. (See Ron Blackburn below. He did make a change in a transcribing error he made that was brought to his attention.)

Ron Blackburn - hearsay - hearsay claim based on family tradition from Blackburns who did not live in Pike Co. KY. (NOTICE he is a Blackburn not a Blankenship). Author of the 100 Year Census.

Don Blankenship - lies - claims to have 6 pieces of documentation but will not show anyone. Anyone who has done any research on this would know that 6 piece of documentation do not exist. He insists that Lydia's parents are William "Buck" Blankenship and Anna Osborne.

Susan Hale - impossible claim - She says Lydia's parents are William Blankenship and Celia Bishop. (William Blankenship and Celia Bishop didn't marry until 1848 in KY.)

Linda Runyon - Claim #1 - impossible claim - Here she claims that William Blankenship and Celia Bishop are Lydia Blankenship's parents. (The Southwestern Virginia Genealogical Society/Virginia Appalachian Notes/Mr. J.C. Porter indicate that William Blankenship was born in 1829 and Celia Bishop was born in 1821.

Linda Runyon - Claim #2 - no proof - Here she claims that William "Buck" Blankenship and Anna Osborn are Lydia Blankenship's parents.

-Vicey (daughter of John Blackburn and Lydia Blankenship) Blackburn's marriage record indicates that her mother was born in Tazwell Co. VA.

-William Blankenship and Celia Bishop were married 27 February 1848 Morgan Co. KY. (Record can be found online at the Morgan Co. KY GenWeb Page.)
-William "Buck" Blankenship and Anna Osborne were married in Floyd Co. KY. All their children were born in KY. (Marriage and death records.)
-William "Buck" Blankenship as well as his older sons, (her supposed brothers), were in Pike Co. KY in 1834, at the time Lydia obtained a guardian. If William was her father and his sons, her brothers and they were all in Pike County, KY in 1834, why did she need a guardian and a bondsman willing to place a $100.00 bond for her? (Equal to $1674.54 in 1999, this is quite a large sum of money for anyone to pay in 1834 for someone that does not appear to be an immediate family member, when her supposed father and supposed brothers were right there in Pike Co. KY and could have easily signed the bond on their word.)
