The Legend of Zelda: The Final Evil by Ben Author's Note: My name Is Ben. I write stories a lot. Especially ones based on video games. The first ever finished, not-to-great edited, and completed story I ever made in my life was based on Resident evil, the playstation game (which I missed a billion mistakes). I decided to write a story based on Zelda because of 2 reasons. 1. I enjoy writing stories for other peoples enjoyment. It makes me feel good. 2. I love Zelda! It is the best game ever made on the face of this earth! Get my point? Good. Well, I hope you enjoy my story. part 1: In pursuit of the Triforce... chapter 1 Link awoke from a strange dream. A dream he has never had before. He didn't know what it meant, and did not want to tell. He was sweating bullets. His usually dry Kokiri tunic was soaked in his sweat. He had to tell someone, no matter what. He got out of his bed and changed into a dry Kokiri tunic, gathered his sword, his shield, the blue ocarina that Zelda gave him to help destroy Gannon, and the rest of his belongings and set off. He left the forest without telling anyone. The usually busy forest was usually up by now. But no one or anything was in sight. All of the houses seemed barren, abandoned before anyone knew they left. Link shook the image of his home out of his head, trying not to scare himself. When he reached Hyrule Field, He called Epona. Epona, the majestic and loyal companion of Link's for a year almost. Her black mane flowed in the soft breeze settling over Hyrule. Her brown fur glistened in the last hours of night as the moon sank down into the horizon and the first soft glow of daylight began to come into sight. He didn't have much time before the Hyrule Castle market would be up and running so he mounted his horse and rode towards Hyrule Castle, eager to speak to Zelda of his dream. When Link got to the market, few people were out. Only the people who were setting their stands were in sight. This was a good sign that the Castle wasn't awake yet. He rode past the market and ran into the castle courtyard. He got off Epona and tied her to the tree near his entrance he frequently used. The he climbed the vine, his only way of getting past the gate without being recognized. He jumped down and sneaked past the sleeping guards and jumped into the moat. He swam to the little entrance he used as a kid and crawled through. He thought to himself that he is getting too big for the little entrance. He ran through the garden until he got to Zelda's garden. He found Zelda there, peeking through her window, as he saw her for the first time. " Zelda..." Link looked suspiciously. She turned, revealing her radiant face to Link. Her Hylian features stood out perfectly. She was taller then when he last saw her, and more beautiful than ever. She wore her elegant pink dress and her thin, golden crown. " Hello, Link. I knew you would come." Zelda replied. " How did you know I was coming?" Link asked, approaching her slowly. " I had the same dream. The same as you, Link..." chapter 2 " You did?" Link asked surprised. " Yes. The very same one. When You killed Gannon, I had a dream than when you killed Gannondorf and Gannon, there was another." Zelda said. " Do you know who?" Link asked, pacing back and forth. " Yes." " Who?" " Gannondorf's son, Jjullor." " Jjullor? What kind of name is that?" " In the Gerudo, Jjullor means 'Conqueror over all'." By this time, Link was sick of all the crap he has been putting up with. " I just do not understand what these idiots are trying to do. I mean as long as I live, no one but your family will rule Hyrule." Link burst out in anger. " Link! Calm down. We don't even know if he wants to take over Hyrule yet." Zelda said, trying to make sense to the tall Hylian. " Well, I think he is gonna try. I just know it." Link said with fire in his eyes. " We should try and gather the sages and then confront this punk." Link said before starting to leave. Then Zelda said something that disappointed Link. " Link, I don't want you to fight him." " What are you talking about? He's gonna be a piece of cake." Link said with pride. " But Link, if you do, please take me with you. I am afraid for your safety. And you might need me. You never know..." Zelda's voice trailed off as Link floated into a deep state of thought. He thought of the risks he has taken in the past, and the risk he was about to take. " Zelda, you can come. But please take a means of travel and defense. I fear for your safety more than my life." Link expressed his fear. " Link. I'll be fine. Let me get my things. Wait for me at the Market." Zelda said. " Ok." Link said. They bid farewell for now and Link started his escape. When he got to the market, he stopped at the Bazzar and gathered rations for the trip. When he walked out a large man greeted him in an unfriendly way. " Hey! Watch where you're going!" He said. " Who, me?" Link asked " Yes, you, stupid!" He said and gave Link a sharp shove into the wall of the bazzar. " Hey, do you want to make an issue about it, punk?" Link said with a sharp shove back. Then the large man punched Link in the ribs, bruising them. " Ow! That hurt!" Link said as he took his bow out. " Ooh... your gonna hurt me with a little toy. I'm scared! HaHaHa!" he got everyone in the market to laugh with him. " Your not gonna laugh when this strikes you!" Link said as he cast fire arrow. The arrow lit on a fire that no one has ever seen before. " Hey, man. You know I was only kidding... right? Buddy... pal..." He begged for Link not to shoot him. Link was about to release the arrow when Zelda came out of the courtyard and called Link. " Link! It's time to go. I got your horse for you." She said as she led Epona to Link. " You lucked out this time punk! You're lucky I have better things to do." Link threatened while mounting his things on Epona and got on her. Zelda was on a white horse with the royal banner on it. " Zelda, don't you think showing that you're the princess might be a bad idea? There are thieves out there." Link asked her, being concerned about her safety. " Your right. I should take this banner off, and pack my crown and jewelry." Zelda complied and did so. They rode for 5 hours in silence, until the sun set behind the horizon. They were not at Kokiri Forest. They decided to set up camp next to the river, for water. It was getting dark out fast and Link was curious if any of the skull creatures would pop up and hurt them. But he discarded the thought. Zelda was done setting up her camp and was fast asleep. Link sat in contemplation, thinking about what he was getting himself and Zelda into. But by the time he collected his thoughts, he was fast asleep also. chapter 3 When Zelda woke up, Link was already awake and packed up. He was fixing a quick meal over a fire for the two of them. When Zelda stirred enough for Link to notice, Link greeted her with a smile and a cheerful " Good morning." Zelda replied with the same message, in a soft, compassionate way. Link could not recognize the feelings she put in the saying, but knew he liked it. Zelda got up and washed the sleep out of her eyes in the river, and then started to pack up her camp. She was half done when Link finished cooking their meal. They quickly finished and packed up the cooking tools. Link helped Zelda pack up her camp. When they were finished, Link played the quick and cheerful Saria's song. " Link... is that you?" Saria asked. " Yes. Saria, we have to meet in the forest. Somewhere private." Link replied. " Where? I don't know where we could go." Saria said. " I know. Let's go to the Sacred Forest Meadow. At the Forest Temple. No one but you and I can get there, so it is sure to be private." Link said, sure of his words. " Ok. I'll meet you there." Saria said. " Ok. But I'm bringing Zelda, too. This involves her, too." Link said. " Alright. See you later." Saria said as she left. " Bye." Link said as he put his ocarina away. " Zelda, we're going to Kokiri Forest to meet Saria in the Forest Temple." Link said. " Are you sure that you know which ways to take?" Zelda asked. " Of course I do! I've been there a million times." Link said with pride. Link helped Zelda on her horse and got on Epona. Then they rode towards Kokiri Forest. When they got to Kokiri Forest, all of the houses were empty, as if they were deserted. No lights on. Even the very busy Kokiri Shop was closed. Link knew something bad was gonna happen. He looked at Zelda and saw fear in her eyes. She stared back at Link, not knowing what to say. Not even the animals all around the forest were stirring. They rode right past the entrance to the Lost Woods and right into the center of the Great Deku tree. Then two large skeleton knights and two large, white wolfoses popped up out of the ground. " Thanks for walking right into our trap! Now we can kill you and take the girl!" the left knight said. " Yeah, I'd like to see you try..." Link said as he unsheathed his mighty Master sword. The knight on the right attacked first, while the other three circled around him, cutting off any escape. The knight slid towards Link and swung its crooked, rusted sword towards him. Link quickly placed his sword in front of him, parrying the blow and aggressively swung back at the monster. When the monster tried to parry the blow, the force of Link's swing splintered the rusted metal. Then Link finished him off by cutting him in half. When it died, it let out a blood-curtailing scream and turned into dust as the wind picked up and blew it away. Link didn't feel like fighting the rest of the enemies. So he cast Din's fire and roasted the rest of them. " Well that was interesting." Link said as he sheathed his sword back to its sheath. Then the entire Kokiri race peeked out from behind the Great Deku tree. " I... is it s...safe?" one of the little people asked. " Yes, it is. Come out where we can see you. We're not bad." Zelda said in a reassuring voice. " Oh, thank you for saving us, strangers. Since you saved our lives, we will grant you our best hospitality whenever you need it." One of the other people said. " Thank you. That is very kind, but we have to get going." Link said. " Ok, strangers. Come by anytime if you need rations, or a place to stay, consult us and we will grant you some food, water, or what ever else you need. We will give it to you." Another person said. " Thank you so very much. We appreciate it." Zelda said, trying to back away. " Thank you. Bye." Link said while turning around, grabbing Zelda by the hand, and running through the walkway leading to the village. When they got to the village, Link helped Zelda cross the river without getting wet, and helped her up the walls and proceeded into the Lost Woods. ************** " You fool! You let them get away! I need those two to release my father!" Jjullor screamed as he pounded his fist on the arm of his skull throne in anger. " I'm sorry master, but our soldiers are not trained good enough. They do not know what they're up against." Allagan, Jjullor's most trusted advisor said, hiding his face in the dark cloak he wore. Jjullor was a powerful man who practiced the black arts, just as his father Gannondorf practiced. He was a strong, built man, and the spitting image of his father. He wore the very same black armor as his father. This way, no one could tell the difference. Allagan was an old, powerful wizard. He was strong, too. He was a more powerful wizard than Gannon. He wore black armor with a red raven spread across the front and back. " I don't care about your worthless excuses! I want Link dead, Zelda captured, and the three elemental sages captured as well! Now, next time, if you fail..." a messenger interrupted Jjullor. " Master! Master! We have to hurry! Link and Zelda are getting the first stone!" he said. " No! Someone stop them! AARRGG!" Jjullor screamed in a fury! Jjullor got so mad, he threw a spear from the wall and hit the messenger in the stomach. The messenger died, and his corpse was dragged away to the cremating halls. " What are we gonna do now? They have the first stone." Allagan asked, rubbing his chin. " We'll just have to follow my father's old plan. Open the portal to the Golden land, Allagan. We're gonna pay the triforce a little visit..." chapter 4 Link and Zelda ran through the woods. Link was trying to remember the way to the forest temple when he stumbled upon a stranger in the woods. He was wearing a Kokiri tunic, just as Link was, but he was a very large man. His strong muscles flexed as he bent over someone injured. The injured man was wearing Hylian armor. " Do you need any help?" Link asked. The big man looked and then replied: " Yes. This man was severely hurt." " Do you know the cause?" Zelda asked worried. " Yes. Wolves." Link said, examining the helpless man. " How do you know?" The large man asked, eyeing Link suspiciously. " I've seen the marks before. Definitely wolves." Link determined. " We better get him to a doctor." Zelda said. " Your right. Let's go." Link said as he and the large man lifted the knight and brought him to the village. When they got there, they brought him to the doctor. Link took the doctor into a private room and gave his opinion on what the cause was. When they were done, they joined the large man and Zelda. " What happened to him, doc?" The big man asked. " Honestly, I don't know. These are not wolf bites like Link explained." The doctor replied. " Are you sure? I think Link is right." Zelda gave her opinion. " Positive. Wolves do not have venom. This is some other creature." The doctor explained. " I think it is the werewolfos." The large man said. " Who are you anyway?" Link asked eyeing him suspiciously. " My name is Rudolph. I am related to the folks down at Lon Lon Ranch. Talon is my brother and Malon is my niece. I wonder how they all are doing..." he tried to remember them. " Nice to meet you, Rudolph." Link said as he continued. " Now since this Werewolfos is on the loose, I can't bring Zelda in at all. Now Rudolph, I just met you and I hope you are as trustworthy as you look." Link was deciding. " Whatever it is you ask me, I'll do it." Rudolph said. " Thanks. Now, I need you to guard Zelda with your life. Do not let anyone touch her in any way. Got it?" Link asked. " You can count on me." He said. " Thanks. I have to take out this thing." He said as he left and disappeared into the Lost Woods. Link took his bow out and was cautiously walking towards the entrance to the maze of woods. He walked on until he saw tracks on the ground. Large tracks that took up most of the path. They were leading right to the path to the Sacred Forest Meadow. Then he thought: I can use my ocarina! He frantically checked his things but the ocarina was missing. " Oh man! I forgot I gave Zelda the ocarina!" He said in disgust as he realized that he had to continue through the tangled mess of shrubbery. As he walked, the sound of the life in the forest started to get softer and softer until the point that he could not hear them anymore. When he got to the entrance, a bitter wind began to pick up. Link shuttered with fear as he slowly walked through the tunnel to the Sacred Forest Meadow. When he got through, it was bitter cold. Thunderclouds darkened as lightning streaked across the sky. Link knew that something bad was gonna happen. He was about to walk into the maze when a strange creature moved in his path. It was like a plant with five wolf heads wriggling around on five stems. It left a trail of dirt as it slid across the moist earth. One of the heads, the one nearest Link, turned and examined him. It looked into Link's eyes and noticed the fear. It snorted at Link, snapped at him, and then returned to patrolling. Link didn't want to waste time and energy fighting these animals so he took out his longshot and grappled to the top of the maze. He hopped around and was finally at the entrance to the Forest temple. There, he saw Saria, tied to the tree and gagged by a piece of cloth. " Saria!" Link screamed as he ran over and freed her. " Be careful, Link! It's a trap!" She screamed as Link realized he was too late. A giant wolfos popped up on the entrance to the forest temple. " Is that all they have for me? A wolfos? C'mon! This will be easy!" Link said, getting over confidant. But his pride faded as it roared a deafening roar. And he realized he was facing the legendary Werewolfos. The beast jumped down and tackled link and started to slash at him. Link took a few slashes to the chest before he threw the massive monster off. He rubbed the scratches, making sure they wouldn't effect his fight, but realized that they barely reached the flesh. Link pulled back an arrow on his bow and let it fly. The monster was hit in the forehead, and the arrow embedded deep into the skull. Blood as black as night pumped through the wound, but the animal showed no signs of pain. It was as if the monster was immune to any thing Link did. The monster jumped up and dove for Link again, but Link dove out of the way and the creature smashed into the tree. Link ran over, drew his sword, and slashed at the creature. Only then did the creature show signs of pain. It roared wildly with pain as it gripped its blood-flushed wounds with muscle-flexing arms. It scowled at Link with hateful eyes and launched its body toward him. Link backed up and tripped on a stone, sending him backward. He fell on the ground, and the Werewolfos saw the perfect opportunity. It jumped high into the air, coming down right on top of Link. Link went to parry, but accidentally stuck his sword up. When the beast came down, it landed right on the sword, lodging the weapon in its heart. It tried to howl in pain, but black blood bubbled up into its mouth, preventing any sounds from escaping. It was about to give Link its dying blow when it sank as death's icy grip finally got hold of the beast and took him away. The battle was over. Link had won. chapter 5 Saria ran over to Link with thankful tears running down her childish complexions. " Thank you, Link. You saved me." She said as she wrapped her arms around him. " No problem... anytime. What are friends for anyway?" Link replied. " Can you get up?" Saria asked with worry in her eyes. " I think so." He replied. He struggled to get up but it was no use. The trip over the stone split his cuts wide open, revealing warm, crimson blood. " Oh man!" Link said as he pressed his blood soaked tunic against his wounds. " That's OK. I'll get help." Saria said just as she got a telepathic call from Zelda. " Saria? Are you there?" Zelda's voice echoed through her mind. " Zelda? Thank Nayru that you called. I need help. Link is seriously injured." Saria replied. " Oh no..." Zelda said as tears welled up in her eyes. " Will he live?" " Yes. But they need to be treated." Saria said. " Ok. I'll send help. What happened?" Zelda asked wondering. " Link killed the Werewolfos but took a few wounds himself." Saria replied. " Ok. I'll send help right away." Zelda said as contact broke. Link and Saria waited and waited for help to come. Soon, rain started to poor down from the sky in sheets. In no time, Link and Saria were soaked. Link told Saria to take shelter under the broken stairs of the forest temple, but she refused to leave him. Soon after, Zelda and five Hylian soldiers showed up with a stretcher. They placed Link on the stretcher and led him out of the forest, into the hospital in the village. By the time they got to the hospital, Link had passed out from loss of blood. But the doctor applied a special cream that heals wounds in a remarkable time span. And then everyone went to bed after a tiresome day. ************** The next day, Zelda went to Link's chamber to wake him up. To her surprise, Link was already up and walking freely about. Zelda stood in the doorway, admiring him. She thought of his muscles and how brave he was (those puberty genes kicked in quick, didn't they). She also admired him for who he was, and how he risked his life for so many people. She then realized that she was falling for him. She loved him a lot, she realized. Link was staring out the window, looking at the townspeople of the Kokiri village. He searched his mind for something to hold onto. Something to keep his feet from straying in the wrong directions. He also thought of Zelda. He thought of her as a person. How compassionate and kind she was. And he thought of how beautiful she was. Her blonde hair, how it flowed down in waves, her beautiful blue eyes... " Link?" Zelda called. " Yes?" he turned and smiled. " Up already?" " Yeah. That doc is miracle worker. My wounds are practically better." " Really? I can't believe it." " Yup. It's true." Link said as he walked toward her. He was gonna confess his love for her when Rudolph poked his head in. " Hey you two. Breakfast is ready. Better get some before it all is gone." He said in a whirl as he flew down the stairs to the dining hall. Link and Zelda walked down the stairs slowly, making small talk. When they got to the dining hall, a meal of biscuits, meat, poultry, and many other breakfast foods were waiting for them. They all ate a plentiful amount. " As soon as they finished, Link and Zelda gathered their items and was ready to leave. " Hey guys, I was wondering if I...uh...could come with you?" Rudolph asked. " Well..." Link decided. " I don't see why not, Link. He does serve a good purpose." Zelda said. " I guess." Link said. " Thanks. I'll go get my horse and stuff." Rudolph quickly left the building to go get his things. " Wait! I forgot to get the Kokiri's emerald!" Link whacked his forehead in his own stupidity. " That's ok. I found it out in the grass while you were sleeping." Zelda said, pulling the shining, green gem out of her little purse and handing it to Link. " Oh gosh. That's a relief." Link sighed. Link and Zelda decided to kill time going to Saria's house to say goodbye. When they got there, Saria was sitting on her step, crying. " What's the matter, Saria?" Zelda said as she went over to comfort her. " Someone stole all of my things. They're all g...go...gone!" She sputtered out as she threw a tantrum. " Do you know who?" Link asked. " No." Saria said, wiping the tears from her eyes. Then, a shadowy figure similar to a Poe crept along the grass, heading towards the exit to the forest, with a rather large pack. It seemed as if it was struggling with the weight. " Wait a minute..." Link said as he stood up and examined it from a distance. Then Rudolph came out of a cottage ahead of the little thief. " Rudolph! Stop that thief!" Link screamed as the little thing broke into a run. " Hey! Let me lighten your load for you pal!" Rudolph said, quickly pulled out his giant mace and whacked the small creature with all of his might. The little guy flew in the air like a bird. It screamed for a short time and when it crashed into one of the walls of the houses, it died instantly. "Rudolph! I said stop him, not kill him!" Link said. " Sorry! I didn't mean to." He called back and apologized. He ran to the pack and picked it up and returned it to Saria. " There you go, ma'am." Rudolph said with a bow. " Thank you." Saria said as she gathered her things, one by one and brought them back to the house. " Well, Saria. Until next time..." Link was trying to find the right words. " Good bye, Link." Saria said as she waved. " Bye." The three party members said in unison. They all mounted their own horses, and left the forest. chapter 6 Link, Zelda and Rudolph made their way toward Kakariko village, so they could make their way to Death Mountain. They talked and thought about the Gorons. When Link brought that up, Rudolph looked at the ground as if he didn't want to talk about it. Link noticed, but decided to leave him alone. When they got to Kakariko village, it was sunset. Many of the houses were busy inside and few people stirred. Link and Zelda were worn out from the long ride north, but Rudolph seemed like he just got up from a good night's sleep. Link decided that they would stay at one of the inns. " Man, I can't believe we have to stay in a lousy inn. We could camp outside under the stars." Rudolph suggested. But his suggestion was over ruled by a quick stroke of nature's paintbrush, painting clouds on the sky. They entered an inn and asked for three separate rooms. Link paid for all of the rooms. When they entered their own rooms, they quickly fell asleep. Well, everyone except Rudolph of course. He decided to take a walk instead. He walked around he village, exploring. He stumbled upon the well in the middle, which was mysteriously dry. When strangers passed, he asked if there was any thing to drink and they referred to the well. But since he discovered it was empty, he knew something wasn't right. As soon as he suspected something, the ground shook and fire flared from the opening. The blast threw Rudolph back, sprawling him against the wall of a building. When he came to, he realized that the whole town was in serious danger. He had to tell Link and Zelda. When he got to the inn, the well flared up again. This time making the ground shake even more than the first time. When Rudolph got to Link's room, he burst in only to find Link and Zelda talking about the mysterious shaking. " Link! Zelda! The well is flaring up with fire!" Rudolph exclaimed. " What!?" Link shot up. " What are you talking about?" Zelda asked in a tired, sleep-gripped voice. " Yes, it's true! The flaring is spaced at about five minutes apart. Something is down there." Rudolph explained. " Then I better check it out!" Link said as he changed into his heat-resistant Goron tunic. " Let me go with you, I can be of some..." Rudolph was cut off by Link. " Nonsense. You have to stay here and watch Zelda." Link said, refusing Rudolph's offer. " Okay." Rudolph said. Link ran out with all of his belongings and approached the well. It flared up again, stronger than last time. When Link looked up, something caught his eye on Death Mountain. He looked at it for a while and realized the impossible: Death mountain was erupting! Just as he discovered this horrible news, Darunia popped out of the well. " Link! Brother! It's good to see you again." Darunia said in his usual, booming, deep voice. " Darunia! What's happening?" Link asked. " I don't know, but something fishy is going on." He replied. " How are the Gorons? Have there been any deaths?" Link continued to interrogate. Darunia looked at the ground and scuffed it with his bare foot. " Biggeron was the first to die. The explosion prior to the eruption threw him off the mountain and sent him tumbling down into one of the deep mountain chasms. Then some other villager ran out to get his son, but realized his son was already inside when a ton of rocks tumbled on him, completely crushing him. There was a third..." Darunia trailed off as tears welled up in his eyes. " Link..." Link automatically assumed. " Yes. He ran out for one of his toys and a lava wall appeared in front of him, completely dissolving him in the blistering heat." Darunia started to sob. Zelda stood by and heard the whole thing. " Oh you poor Goron..." Zelda said as she went over and comforted him. " Well what about the Fire temple? Maybe this whole incident ties in with it." Link thought out loud. " Don't even bother. The Fire temple's entrance was blocked by falling rocks." Darunia said. They stood there and thought a while and Link came up with a brilliant idea. " Darunia! Are the Gorons hungry?" Link asked. " Starving." He replied, trying to think what he had in mind. " Good. Since you already repaired the bridge in Death mountain crater, we can send a bunch of hungry Gorons and eat our way through. And if there are any infants hungry, we can have some rocks brought back for them!" Link explained his plan. Darunia thought about it and replied: " Link, you're a genius!" And so it happened. The whole plan was carried out and it worked. The Fire temple lay in front of Darunia and Link. " So now what do we do?" Darunia asked Link. " I say we go in there and find out what is wrong." Link concluded as he went in. Darunia followed close behind. The corridors were lit with fresh torches, which was strange for no one was in the temple since Ganondorf threatened to feed the Gorons to Volvagia. Link noticed this strange fact, as well as Darunia. As soon as they climbed down into the main foyer of the temple, strange creatures confronted them. The creatures looked like Gorons, except of the fact that they have hair like fire, and they varied in the colors of a deep red, light orange, to bright yellow and blue. They were about the size of Darunia. Darunia recognized them immediately and told Link to kill them quickly. The battle was very short and the two heroes won almost instantly. " What were those weird things, Darunia?" Link asked. " Those creatures are one of your worst nightmares." He replied. " They seemed really easy to me." Link said. " Really? Well I hope you know that those were just infants." Darunia said. " What? That's impossible! Those things were as big as you are..." Link exclaimed, not believing his ears. " What are they anyway?" " They are called Fire Trolls. They roam around in extremely hot places, such as Death mountain crater. They like to frolic in the fire, like Hylian children like to frolic in water. Their leader, Sulfurous, is a very large Fire Troll. He is as big as Biggeron. And if not, bigger!" Darunia told Link. " Wow!" Link stood and listened in awe. He knew he'd need help. Just as he thought that, Zelda and Rudolph came down the ladder, armed with crossbows and short swords. " Zelda! What are you doing down here?" Link asked her. " I thought to try one of these dungeons and see how they are." She replied. " I don't want you down in one of these horrible places. This isn't the place for a princess." Link continued to try and change her mind. " Well this isn't exactly where you're supposed to be." Zelda said. " Then where am I supposed to be?" Link asked, crossing his arms and waited for an answer. " With me, of course." Zelda said with a smile. Link couldn't help but smile. He liked the thought of being with Zelda. " Sorry to break up the chat but we better move it." Darunia said. They proceeded to the room before the boss chamber. There, there were different creatures. They were green and short. They were heavily armed and armored. " What are these?" Link asked, hacking at them left and right. When they were finished, Darunia explained. " They are Goblins, the long since allies with the Fire Trolls. They help them in any way they can for various items: land, rupees, gold, weapons, and probably anything they find valuable." " Oh. Well, does anyone know how to open a fire lock without water?" Rudolph asked, examining the boss door's lock. It was a shiny reddish-orange. " Yeah. Stand back." Link said as he shot an Ice arrow at it. The lock froze and Rudolph smashed it to pieces with his powerful mace. He opened the door and walked inside. Inside was a giant throne room in the place where Volvagia assaulted Link. The holes in the floor were still present. On the opposite side of the room, on a ledge with a broken bridge, stood the Altar of Fire. " I should have known the Fire Trolls would have come back to revive the Altar of Fire!" Darunia said as he smacked his head. " What's so bad about it?" Zelda asked. " It makes any fire source within a 20 mile radius go wild." Link said, referring to the old legend he has heard from other Gorons. " Rudolph, keep Zelda over here and protect her. Darunia and I are gonna go and try to destroy the Altar." Link said as he led Darunia to the middle of the platform. When they got there, a giant Fire Troll appeared in the throne. " Ah! Darunia! It has been long..." It said in an extreamely loud and deep voice. " Sulfurous! Why have you come back to the Goron kingdom? You don't belong here!" Darunia screamed back. " Well, Darunia, it's a long story. You see, this guy came way below the earth and talked to me. He knew you were good friends with some guy called Link... or something like that. Anyway, he said that if I eliminated this so-called Link and you, he would award me all of the other Gorons as my slaves and have the Goron kingdom for my civilization and I. Of course I couldn't pass up a chance to overrule your kingdom, so I accepted. So prepare to die, weak fools. You are facing the almighty Sulfurous, Lord of Fire! Ha ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaa!" He bellowed. Link and Darunia got ready for battle, but knew that they wouldn't stand a chance without destroying the Altar of Fire. But how would they destroy it... chapter 7 Sulfurous bellowed with evil laughter. Link and Darunia looked at each other, nodded, and charged toward the massive troll. Link took out his longshot and shot himself up to his neck and hacked at it. Darunia climbed up his leg and started to punch his stomach with a lot of power. Sulfurous couldn't believe how powerful and cunning his two opponents were. He yelled with pain and threw Link off his neck. When Link hit the ground, it made a bone crunching sound and he lost his shield over the edge of the platform. He lay motionless. Zelda saw and noticed the trouble so she sang a strange song that no one has ever heard of. When she was done, Link got up and was like brand new and refreshed. He looked at Zelda and thanked her by winking at her. She sighed with relief. The battle raged on and Darunia and Link were starting to show signs of fatigue. Zelda didn't know what to do. Then it dawned on her. She could destroy the Altar with Ice arrows! She cast the spell on the arrow and shot at the Altar. She missed and quickly got another ready. After a long time of aiming, she shot the arrow. It hit the Altar and froze it solid. Then she hit it with a Fire arrow. When this reaction occurred, the Altar rumbled and shook and then melted right in front of their eyes. Sulfurous felt the change and was beginning to get desperate. He knew he didn't have a chance with these vicious opponents without the power of the Altar. So he punched both Link and Darunia and ran to the far side. He was breathing hard. " Wh...wh...why are you doing th...this?" Sulfurous asked, trying to catch his breath. " Because you brought back something meant to be kept out of the hands of those who are not worthy. You, Sulfurous, are a Troll who does not have a sense of restriction," Darunia answered him. "...You always have to be satisfied with only the best. Why can't you just settle with what you have?" " Because I can earn it! Or when I am offered, I take it." Sulfurous responded harshly. " But it doesn't belong to you! You have no right taking my land!" Darunia screamed in a blind fury. " Oh really! Does it, Darunia? If you haven't already figured it out, We are all over this mountain!" Sulfurous screamed back. " What are you talking about?" Link screamed back, sharing Darunia's aggravation. " Well...first of all, when the earthquake happened, we happened to break out of the mountain! The quake threw the boulder that Din put in the way of our exit! So then we made our assault and taking over of the Fire Temple. Then we found the secret chamber where the Altar of Fire was, which you imbeciles destroyed! That was going to provide me...I mean us with indescribable power and authority!" Sulfurous yelled defensively. " Well, I think that there is something strange going on, and it has everything to do with you!" Link screamed as he charged at him with his sword held high. Sulfurous moved out of his path but Link quickly changed ways and dug his sword into Sulfurous's stomach. He screamed with pain and grabbed Link and started to squeeze the life out of him. " AAAAGGGGG!!!" Link screamed in pain as the air slowly seeped out of him. " Aaahh! Link!" Zelda gasped in fear. " Help! Zelda! Help!" Link whispered loudly. Zelda frantically rushed around the platform where she only had a crossbow. Then it hit her. An Ice arrow! That's it! Zelda thought to herself as she reached for an arrow. She pulled the last one from her quiver. She knew that she would have only one chance. She cast Ice arrow and cautiously aimed at Sulfurous. " Link, guide me!" She yelled as she closed her eyes and shot the arrow. When she shot the arrow, everyone witnessed a miracle. The arrow was well off target, flying off to the right, but miraculously it turned sharply and embedded into Sulfurous's head. He yelped in pain, dropped Link, and then started to falter around. " Wh...wh...why...Daruniaaaa." He whispered as he fell of the edge of the platform as the last breath seeped out of his lips. He fell a long time and then...Splat! The lava shot up from the splash. " That takes care of the cremation." Link chuckled, thankful to be alive. Zelda was weeping. It was the first time she has ever killed someone. Link went over to her and embraced her with a hug of pure affection and thankfulness. " Thank you, Zelda. Because of you, I am still here, the Altar in destroyed, and Sulfurous as well. Thank you." Link said as thankful tears ran down his face. " Let's get out of this place. It's creepy." Rudolph said. " I think Zelda wants to too. She is still shaken up about her first kill." Link said, leading the way out. They ran out of the temple, making sure that no Fire Trolls were following them. When they were sure they all were out, Darunia closed off the temple forever. When they got to Kakariko village, everyone was exausted. " Thank you all. The lava is receeding. How can I thank you?" Darunia asked Link. " First, I need the Goron's ruby." Link said, extending his left hand. Darunia gladly gave him the jewel. " What else?" Darunia asked, wondering of what it could be. " I want you to watch Kakariko village until I come back with the Zora's sapphire." Link commanded. " Ok, brother. I will do that." Darunia bid farewell as he went to gather troops from his army in the mountain. Link walked over to a shocked and sullen Zelda. " What's wrong, Zelda?" Link asked, concerned. " I have...never killed...before." She replied. " Well, it's done. Unfortunately, killing is one of those things that get easier the more you do it, Zelda." Link said back. " We better get going. It's starting to get dark and we need to press on." Rudolph said as he got on his horse. " You're right. We better get going." Link agreed as he mounted his horse after mounting Zelda on her horse. The travelers soon left Kakariko village. Little did they know that Jjullor was right on there tails. *************************** Jjullor, after a thousand tries, was successful in breaking the seal to the golden land. The sweet smell of success whooshed in his face. " Ah. The Golden Land! Home of the Triforce. Do you feel it, Allagan? The feeling that everything is going to fall right into place from here on?" Jjullor asked, anxious for an answer. " Yes, master. It feels great!" Allagan grinned. They both gave an evil cackle and then started their long journey, to find the Triforce.
