Descendants of + Francis Brandon I

Generation One

1. + Francis Brandon I was born circa 1725 at England. He married + Elinor Richmond, daughter of + John Richmond and + Margaret Lea, circa 1755. He died between 30 September 1788 and 26 January 1789 at Antrim Parish, Halifax County, Virginia. His estate was probated on 26 January 1789; probate granted to Elinor Brandon and John Lawson. William Richmond refused. Witnesses were Thomas Wiley, William Brandon, and Thomas Brandon. The children are listed in order of the will, William and David yet underage.

He left a will on 30 September 1788 at Halifax County, Virginia.

+ Elinor Richmond was born circa 1735 at Mecklenburg County, Virginia. She died after 28 September 1801 at Halifax County, Virginia.

Generation Two

2. + Francis Brandon II (Francis) was born on 16 May 1756 at Halifax County, Virginia. A bond for the marriage of he and + Sarah Scott, daughter of + William Scott and + Rebecca Brown, was signed on 13 February 1786 at Caswell County, North Carolina; the bondsman was Septimus Taylor and the witness was Ald. Murphey C.C. He died on 9 August 1842 at Halifax County, Virginia, at age 86. His estate was probated on 22 August 1842; The children are listed in order of the will.

He left a will on 18 July 1831 at Halifax County, Virginia.

+ Sarah Scott was born on 16 November 1766. She died on 30 June 1818 at Halifax County, Virginia, at age 51.

3. William Brandon (Francis) was born between 1767 and 1781. A bond for the marriage of he and Mary Langley, daughter of Thomas Langley fifth and Mary Wiley, was signed on 17 January 1796 at Caswell County, North Carolina; the bondsman was John Langley. He died on 24 February 1841 at Gwinnett County, Georgia. He was buried at Brandon Family Cemetery, Lawrenceville.

Mary Langley was born in 1776 at Mecklenberg County, Virginia. She died on 23 October 1853 at Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia. She was buried at Brandon Family Cemetery.

4. David Brandon (Francis) was born between 1767 and 1781. A bond for the marriage of he and Rebekah Connally, daughter of George Connally and Frances Moore, was signed on 15 December 1800 at Caswell County, North Carolina; (A David Brandon married Cathrine Irvine, bond signed 17 May 1785 at Halifax County, Virginia. I am not certain which one was son of Francis Brandon and Elinor Richmond.).

Rebekah Connally was born on 10 March 1779.

Generation Three

5. William Brandon (Francis, Francis) was born in 1787. A bond for the marriage of he and Esther Wiley was signed on 14 December 1811 at Caswell County, North Carolina; the bondsman was Moses Langley.

Esther Wiley was born in 1789.

Children of William Brandon and Esther Wiley were:

6. + Robert Brandon (Francis, Francis) was born on 13 June 1788 at Halifax County, Virginia. A bond for the marriage of he and + Jane Holt, daughter of + Timothy Holt and + Elizabeth Chambers, was signed on 10 January 1811 at Halifax County, Virginia; surety was John Holt. Witnesses were William Brandon and John Holt. He married Eliza Ann (_____) in April 1859 at Callaway County, Missouri. He died on 8 March 1874 at Callaway County, Missouri, at age 85. His estate was probated on 14 March 1874; his son Francis Brandon was appointed executor.

He began military service on 5 July 1813 in the War of 1812. He ended military service on 1 October 1813 having served at Norfolk. He left a will on 11 January 1874 at Callaway County, Missouri.

+ Jane Holt was born on 12 February 1790 at Halifax County, Virginia. She died on 2 April 1858 at Callaway County, Missouri, at age 68. She was buried at Dry Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, New Bloomfield.

Children of + Robert Brandon and + Jane Holt were as follows:

Eliza Ann (_____) married (___) Dozier before 1843. She was born on 1 October 1805 at North Carolina. She died on 2 August 1870 at Callaway County, Missouri, at age 64.

There were no children of + Robert Brandon and Eliza Ann (_____).

7. Jesse Brandon (Francis, Francis) was born in 1791 at Halifax County, Virginia. A bond for the marriage of he and Mary C. Graves was signed on 2 March 1816 at Person County, North Carolina.

Mary C. Graves was born in 1794.

Children of Jesse Brandon and Mary C. Graves were as follows:

8. Cathrine Brandon (Francis, Francis) married Richard Carter, son of Lemuel Carter and Patsy Powell, on 19 July 1822 at Halifax County, Virginia.

Richard Carter was born circa 1800.
