What we're all about:

Air ExplorerPost117 is THE place in the Bucyrus area where kids can experience aviation first hand.  We introduce young men and women ages 14-20 to aeronautics and aviation technologies.  Whether interested in aviation as a career or hobby, young people pursue their dream of flight in Post 117.

Post 117 is chartered with the Boy Scouts of America through its Exploring program. Explorer posts are organized to expose youth to a specific career or interest such as law enforcement, medicine, boating, or in our case aviation. Post 117 was first chartered more than 35 years ago. Throughout its history the post has provided a unique aviation experience to scores of young men and women. The youth of Post 117 receive guidance from their adult advisors, who volunteer their time to share their knowledge and experience in the field of aviation.

What we do:

The sky is the limit in defining our goals.  The post's projects have varied over the years, but are always driven by imagination and our natural fascination with flight.  In years past, we've restored two airplanes to flying condition and flown them both.  We're currently in the midst of our third project plane. We are continually building and flying radio controlled model airplanes. We travel to aviation museums, air shows, and trade shows. In general if it relates to flying, it's on our "To Do" list.
