The Miss Flo, as the locals call it, is at 99 Main Street -- which is also Route 9 -- in the Florence section of North Hampton, Massachusetts. This is one of our favorites: it tastes as good as it looks. The breakfast crowd moves pretty fast here, so we didn't have to wait long, and we were dining with a two-and-a-half-year-old and a nine-month-old, and though they were well-behaved, we thought it best not to sit around with a second cup ourselves. The pancakes were fluffy and full of blueberries, and the eggs and hash were just right, which doesn't sound too hard, but so many places don't get it right.

The Miss Flo has an outrageous neon sign. I'd like to see it at night.

The Miss Florence from outside. This is the real thing: a factory-built diner that hasn't forgotten what it is once you get inside.    Booth Service? But, of course....

The juke box was turned off for breakfast.    The dining area is original but well-maintained and clean. I wish they were all this nice.
