Wilson's Diner, at 507 Main Street (also Rt. 20) in Waltham, Massachusetts is a 10-window 1949 Worcester Lunch Car (#819) with light-blue-and-cream-colored porcelain-enamel exterior repeated in the interior tilework. The signboard across the roof says, "Breakfast Lunch Dinner," but you'll have to eat an early dinner (before 3 PM weekdays, 2 PM weekends) to get in before they close. We met friends for lunch on a Saturday -- the place was nearly full (our friends already had a booth for us, and there were a couple of empty stools at the counter) but no line. Three of us had breakfast (steak and eggs, bluberry pancakes, veggie omelette) and John got some sort of chicken wrap. Everything was good, especially the homefries. |
