Our oil spill problem.

You may not thinkmuch about oil spills, but many animals from the ocean get hurt, sick,or killed by oilspills. An oil spill is an accidental discharge of petroleum products, which on water would occur from ocean-sited oil rigs, oil tankers, or oil fueled vessels.

The causes of our oil problem.

Most spills are relatively minor, amounting to less than 3,785 liters (1,000 u.s. gallons). Catastrophic spills, in which many thousands of liters are lost, occur regularly, however. Most are the result of tanker accidents.

Possible answers to our oil spill problem.

A possible solution could be to use oil skimmers. We could also build stronger tankers and have more metal to protect the fuel tank.
