In a dream You and 2 friends (whom you later discover are Hassan and Mileyu) are en-route to fighting the evil maou mudo. If you defeat him, peace will return to the world. Mudo systmatically destroyes each of you.
You awake from the dream of the battle with nothing but questions.
On your way to help the mayor sell some goods at the local bazzar you are asked to look for someone who hasn't been home in a while. He is hanging from the edge of a gaping hole in the land and as you extend your hand to help him you fall through.
What follows is the adventure of Dragon Quest VI.
Brought back job system... except this time it is a million times cooler!
Brought back 4 characters in battle!
Best Graphics and sound in entire series
Added tactics in addition to spells and regular attacks.
Amazing scope of game with 6 modes of transportation, 2 worlds and a 3rd world underwater! Definately long!
Removed day / night feature. Now at specific events, it is night. This is forgivable is you realize the actuall size of this game.
Added battle animations for enemies, and boy are they smooth...

Headed for Mudo's castle |
Taloon, Mara and the children of the DQ V hero are rumored to apear in the DQ VI bonus dungeon. I have been to DeathCod (the village in the bonus dungeon) and no characters had any special graphics (except Taloon - but he looked nothing like the DQ IV version). Sure enough they DO exist, they just have generic DQ VI graphics... Kinda a let down. I was hoping they would at least look special...
