Ki Society Aikido

"Seeing me before him,
The enemy attacks,
But by that time
I am already standing
Safely behind him"

- O'Sensei

About Aikido

Aikido is a purely defensive art, involving no kicking or punching. Instead a skilled aikidoka redirects an opponents ki (momentum/force/intent) to throw or immobilise them. All techniques are learned with a partner in a non-competitive environment.

The Spring Hill Dojo studies Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido (Ki Society International). This style of Aikido was started by Koichi Tohei in Japan who was selected by the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba (O'Sensei) to continue the art.

The diagram at the top of the page emphasises 3 aspects of Ki Society Aikido:

  1. The triangle represents the generation of energy and is the most stable physical posture
  2. The circle represents serenity and perfection, the source of unlimited techniques
  3. The square represents solidity, the basis of applied control
