CASSINGHAMS in America

George F. Cassingham Obituary

[From the Coshocton Democrat; Coshocton, Ohio; Tues., Mar. 19, 1889]

George F. Cassingham, Esquire, a pioneer of Coshocton, was last week gathered to his Fathers, at the age of 77 years. He had been ill for many months, and his demise was not unexpected. Mr. Cassingham was born in England, in 1812. At the age of six years he came with his parents to America, and settled in Muskingum county. In 1833 he came [sic] Coshocton where he ever since resided, a useful, respected and honored citizen. Forty years ago he was elected Recorder for this county, and for several years past has been a Justice of the Peace for Tuscarawas township. For nearly half a century he was a faithful member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the funeral services at the grave in Oak Ridge Cemetery Sunday was according to the rite of his beloved order. A very large concourse of people from both town and country testified their regard by their presence at the burial service. George F. Cassingham was one of God's noblest works - an honest man. Long live the memory of his quiet, upright life.
