Downtown Area

George Washington

The next stop on our tour is Chinatown, the homeChinatown
Arch of plenty of great Chinese restaurants from expensive to very reasonable. Chinatown is a happenin' place to go for late night eats, since most restaurants are open 'til 4 AM. After the bars close, you can get a meal and "cold tea"(beer).

Want to shop for a bargain? Just a few blocks from Chinatown, is Downtown Crossing. Let's stop in at Filene's Basement, One of the most visited places in Boston.

Hey, Let's stop by the The Orpheum Theater Box office and see who's coming to town soon.

Next, If we go a couple blocks up Tremont Street, and go left on Beacon Street, we come to the Massachusetts State House. I don't know why they call it the State House, because it is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but that's what they call it.

State
House

The State House dome was originally sheathed in copper by Paul Revere but now has a brand new covering of Gold Leaf.

cheers If it's not too late, how about a stroll through the Boston Common, the Nations oldest park. We should keep to the right and head over to the Bull and Finch Pub in the Hampshire House, the inspiration for the TV show Cheers, "Where everybody knows your name". Let's stop in and have a couple beers. And maybe buy a teeshirt or some souvenirs.

Boston Public Garden Swans Just across Charles Street from The Boston Common is the Boston Public Garden. Filled with beautiful flower gardens, many varieties of trees andPublic
Garden the home of the World Famous Swan boats and the World's smallest suspension bridge. In the Spring and Summer, many couples choose to get married in the beautiful settings of the Public Garden.

Right next to the college is an alley called Boylston Place but simply referred to as "The Alley". The Alley Some call it the Bourbon Street of Boston. There are several clubs in the alley including the Big Easy, the Sweetwater Cafe and the Alley Cat. The Alley Clubs
