paper mache, mixed media, abstract, printmaking, kiln-formed Artist Statement: Each piece of my art is created with multi-layers and materials. I think that life itself has many layers and meanings which vary from person to person. I want people to look at what I have created and see their own world within each work. The collage effect allows the introduction of different mediums and objects onto the canvas, and a story is built which means something to me, but may mean something entirely different to the viewer. The use of typography in my pieces is very important for me. Not only do words convey messages but I feel type and letter forms are in their own right beautiful art pieces. I love being able to create works that evoke thought and contain hidden meanings. I am relatively new to the Medford area, having moved here in 2004 to take a creative position with Bear Creek Corporation. Originally I am from Illinois and moved to Oregon after working in Northern Idaho and Southern California for several years. The surroundings of the Rogue Valley are truly unique, and I am outside taking advantage of the beauty every chance I get. My educational background includes a Bachelors Degree in Art for the University of Saint Xavier, as well as several classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. Creating artwork which includes "found objects" and typography is my passion.
