Artist Statement:

Visual expression is the language of my heart. All my senses enter into everything I do, but I feel that visual stimulation has always been the lead element in my intellectual development. I have been responding to visual cues, storing images and manipulating materials every since I cam remember. The visual spaces I shape are frequently expressive of spiritual landmarks and emotional states not normally visible in our physical surroundings. These interior destinations are not easily explained in words.

My aim is to create images that, like poetry, are condensed and honed to the point that verbal explanations are cumbersome compared to viewing the art itself. I think of my imagination as a laboratory for teasing out the many meanings of life - the central mystery of our existence. My working method is both reflective and automatic.

Over time I have developed a vocabulary of forms.
My strategies can sometimes subvert normal conventions of visual representation. Mundane details become catalysts for visual thinking, allowing me the opportunity to invest shapes and symbols with transformational energy. I am always searching for ways to capture that chaotic energy, mystery and wonder which surrounds us daily.
