Artist Statement:

Different materials, perspectives and approaches allow me to continually discover possibilities in my artmaking. The variety of work I make confuses me sometimes. Then I remember that the work reflects the things that interest me; materials, scale, light , color, subject, symbol, story. I approach my work as instinctive visual research; an exploration of mind and materials, subject and thought.

"The Good Mother", a mixed media series on canvas and plexiglas, addresses the acts of daily life that tell stories which often address profound issues through a woman's eyes; issues of identity, gender boundaries, power and venerability. I have personal views on each piece shown here, but I will leave it to the viewer to read their own story form the symbols gathered on the canvas.
 

DIANNE  has been a graphic designer for 25 years and a life-long artist. She has taught Acrylic Painting and Collage/Mixed Media at the Palo Alto Art Center and the Pacific Art League of Palo Alto, CA, and most recently in the Medford and Jacksonville area.

She now resides outside the Historic town of Jacksonville, Oregon, and is a founding member of AMBUS ART gallery in Jacksonville.
