Extreme!
Topic: Travels

After hearing about our friend Betsy's adventures in Eloy last weekend... we made our trip to Eloy to do some indoor skydiving at SKYVENTURE AZ

This place is awesome.  You literally walk in the door, take a 15 min training class (manuevers, techniques -hand signals and all) and suit up in the gear and play! We got some great hang time in the tunnel and have an awesome video for the family archives. At the end of the session the trainer takes us up to spin about 20 feet in the air and we perform acrobatics I snagged a couple pics from the video-- the first one is Mr. Mark prior to a double 360 turn

And here is me hamming it up for the camera scissor gang mafia style, with bonus goofy face.

This was BLAST, and next stops will sky diving for real and a ride on a vomit comet at zero gravity!

This little flower that lives at our front entryway makes me smile everytime I pull in / out of our garage. Reminds me of hawaii. :)

Some Mondays are harder than others
Topic: Travels

Especially when it is a Monday after a FUN weekend in Los Angeles!  Mark and I had a blast shopping, eating, visiting, and more shopping on our trip.  At the Hertz rental counter they offered us an upgrade from the Prius we had reserved...how could we say no to this?

One new find on this trip was the Good Earth Restaurant in Studio City- where we met our friends Lauren and her husband Craig for breakfast.  Totally yummy food!

For that Special date with Steve Austin
Topic: Childhood Memories

Ahhhhh nothing like some childhood toy goodness.

Let me introduce...the Bionic Woman (aka Jaime Sommers).

Though she was too tall to roll with Barbie (and her teeny tiny clothes and elf-like shoes), it didnt' keep her from stealin' Ken away.  I don't think it bothered Jaime that she was tall.  Jaime is a special breed 12 inch dolly with man-sized flat feet, and she wasn't afraid to sport the wedge red sandals and sassy blue jumpsuit-- with logo!

And the best part by far of any 70's  toy packaging are the selling points... exhibit 1:

I like that they point out that the credit cards are pretend.-- And what gal doesn't have a pic of OSCAR  in her billfold.-- And don't forget that makeup for that special date with Steve.  By far the purse is the BEST part of this set.

Say Cheese

Richard Cheese!

We saw RC and Lounge Against the Machine Saturday night at Celebrity Theatre.  It was an excellent show and to see him sing the songs I love in person... once in a lifetime.  This is RC's farewell tour, so we are really glad we caught him in Phoenix (which happens to his home town)  If you have never heard of RC, I recommend you do a little sampling of his tunes. :) Closer and IceIceBaby are a few of my faves

Here we are in our tiger stripes after the show during our meet and greet.

Word of the day...
Topic: Cuisine

Rambutan  !!
At Trader Joe's, I picked up some yummy rambutan fruit and roasted red peppers to add to my two cloth bags of groceries.  The rambutan is really good.  I am always on the look out for new and fun stuff at Trader Joe's... though still no revival of the matcha cake mix. :(

Here is great recipe I found at foodnetwork for Roasted Red Pepper Dip:

In a food processor chop together-
1/3 C. roasted almonds
1 jar of red peppers (drained)
1 tsp red wine vinegar
1 small shallot clove
1 Tblsp olive oil
salt/pepper to taste

I like this dip with toasted french bread slices or pita chips.  It's best served cold.

Feedback from Mars
Topic: Crafty friends

 Its me! Mars, here!

I arrived yesterday all the way from LA-- what a trip in the Fed Ex box - you can see me pre journey at my LA home base:)
I am settling in nicely in my new home and had to pose for  few pics before my new mom, Amy finds a final display spot for me in Amyville headquarters.  I like my new home.  Amy made sure to have a little taste of LA-home waiting for me...Sprinkles cupcakes-- the new store opened in Scottsdale when Mr. Mark and Amy were in Hawaii.  Amy stood in line 20 minutes for these cupcakes.  I love cupcakes- especially the red velvet ones!

Though I haven't seen the animals upclose (nor do I care too)- I peeked that this one (they call her coco chanel, I think) played in my fed ex box before Mr. Mark took it out to the recycling bin.- what savages.

until next time this Mars...signing out!

LOST and found
Topic: Travels

We just returned from a quick island getaway to Oahu- and here is the view from our hotel on Waikiki we left behind

Inbetween boogie boarding, swimming, shopping, and eating...we squeezed in a 5 hour LOST tour-- here are a couple highlights-- warning for the hard core LOSTies--- but I have included episode shots for reference (from abc.com)

Season 1-- Amy (Shannon) hears the french woman's distress call on radio hill (ka'a'awa valley) will Mark (Sayid) listens in

Season 4 -- The Tempest hatch- is Cooper Battery-- a revamped movie museum

and the final scene of that episode (the other woman) shows Juliet and Jack kissing outside the tempest entrance

We hit over 20 LOST filming scenes and have a ton of great pics-  also got some great Jurassic Park and Godzilla movie shots too, most of our tour was on private property offroading in a hummer-- so fun!

 Aloha!

TCB Ninjas

Taking Care of Business  ...and who doesn't love ninjas?  So when I saw these blind box pocket ninjas, I had to grab a few.

I was seriously hoping to get the Business Ninja-- check out the cell phone and tie! (text from ninjatown web site)  Here's to fighting a case of the MONDAYS!

Business Ninja
The daily grind has this office ninja downing gallons of green tea by noon. When his pager isn’t blowing up, his cell is, and when that’s not going off, his blackberry is making sounds like a robot about to explode. Even with the stress, he likes the money and the cookies it buys him, not to mention the joy he gets from increasing Wee Ninja efficiency.

Motto
"Not right now, I have a very important conference call to make!"
