Trains and Faeries
Topic: Amy in AZ

My friend Anny from SanDiego was in town, and I got to spend some time with her both Thursday and Friday.  Friday, we took her niece, Lily, to the McCormick Railroad park in Scottsdale.  It was super hot even at 9 am, but we had a lot of fun that morning.  Here we are the on the carousel with a bonus belly shot.

Also have been revisiting my faerie art.... I blame the show Merlin for the throwback.  I have been pouring thru my Froud/Lee faerie books ( I love Froud's artwork), and broke this little guy, Heiber, out of the amyville archives.  More faeries are in the works this summer, just need to carve out the time.

A blog's TRUE purpose
Topic: Amy in AZ

Every once in a while one's Blog is used to get the word out.... even when the word is not good.

I found out today an Australian company called Diva (diva.net.au) has copied stolen a few of my designs, as well as fellow artists from Shanalogic.com.  It appears they are being mass produced, as the quality is low, and the prices are super cheap.  It makes me wonder where (under what type of working conditions) they are being made (and by whom... CHILDREN?)

Please read the full story here at Shanalogic's blog

·       Diva is mass producing items in order to sell them for less than indie artists can afford to sell their originals

·       Please do not support DIVA by purchasing their merchandise

·       Please feel free to contact them about this issue

Baby Nemo is............
Topic: Baby Nemo

a GIRL!

Though I wasn't expecting to find out so early (at almost 17 weeks on the June 4th appointment)  Someone was ready to share.

We are super excited!  Here is a 4D pic, that you will either recognize baby immediately, or stare for hours like a magic eye ala Seinfeld's Mr. Pitt.

Mini May Catchup- Running like a crazy Tippi
Topic: Travels

Well into June, but I better wrap up May first.  We traveled in Indinapolis for the Indy 500 Mini Marathon during the first weekend in May.  I had the best jog/brisk walk partner for the 5K, LISA!  Though I could recapture the day, I think I will have you read Lisa's post, cause it would blow my stuff away...she is much better blogger than me :)  Mark and I had a great time at the race, and enjoying time with our friends.

Though we didn't run like a crazy Tippi (ala the Birds!)  I did get the most awesome doll ever for my birthday from the Valentino's...my very own Tippi Hedren doll, I love her (the birds attacking her give it a nice touch).  Not to mention the happy childhood memories breath spray majorly rocks!

Hawaii
Topic: Travels

April 7th- 12th we made our annual trek to Hawaii, choosing Oahu again (could that have been LOST related? hmmm...)

One of our first stops after jumping off the plane was lunch at The Counter.  I had read where Daniel Dae Kim was a co-owner a few months back, and was hoping to get a glimpse of some Losties during our stay.  At the beginning of our meal, we realized we were only 3 tables away from DDK!  Here is shot of him on his way out, which is a little hard to tell, but he is on the left talking to the group he was dining with.  stalkerfic!

We also took some time to become shark bait.  Here is a highlight off the role from the swim with shark time about 15 miles off the North Shore

We had a blast, and kept our vacation very low key in Waikiki this year.  I literally was a beach bum at the resort.

We discovered a new restaurant called Chibo that serves authentic Okonomiyaki,  we are hooked, and I am still going thru withdraw symptoms

aloha!

social time
Topic: Vera and Coco

We are back from our Hawaii vacation, but yeah I am posting a pic of the cats...go figure.

This evening when I was processing amyville orders at the computer i thought i heard the sound of a young boy at our front window... i was mistaken.  It was "BUTCHY" (we have no idea his real name-- and he only has one eye) the neighborhood cat sitting on our window ledge visiting the ladies of the manor.

Later, Vera got in the window and they were sitting next to each other.  Very sweet...kitty social time.  wow highlights at chez secrest are livin' in the fast lane.

Vera thinks Charlie is Special
Topic: Vera and Coco

LOST kubricks (kinda like lego people...but cooler!) have hit chez secrest full force.  After hearing about them thru Aidan, the search was on!  Thanks to the wonderful internet (thank you again to Al Gore) I have been able to collect the blind box 7 standard...plus the bonus Desmond.  What am I missing?... the mysterious 1:96 uber bonus Ben!  Just like the show, Ben is evil, even to collect, go figure.  I like that each of these kubricks (except Desmond) come with their own accessory.

Locke- knife :: Jack- gun :: Kate- handcuffs :: Sawyer- book :: Sayid- radio :: Hurley- CD player :: Charlie- guitar

I am also impressed with details, down to the coiffed hair wigs.  Vera (aka the Black Smoke Monster) batted Locke around and wouldn't leave Charlie alone during the photo shoot.

Underoos
Topic: Childhood Memories

I had many pair of underoos growing up.  My top two faves were my Wonder Woman set (my first pair) and my C-3PO set.  Thanks to the wonderful world of eBay I was able to locate a couple sets.

After opening the package, I suddenly remember the 70's world of polyester all over again.  Also I still laugh that only the fronts of the girls underoos are printed, and that the backsides are white.
