Mini May Catchup- Running like a crazy Tippi
Topic: Travels
Well into June, but I better wrap up May first. We traveled in Indinapolis for the Indy 500 Mini Marathon during the first weekend in May. I had the best jog/brisk walk partner for the 5K, LISA! Though I could recapture the day, I think I will have you read Lisa's post, cause it would blow my stuff away...she is much better blogger than me :) Mark and I had a great time at the race, and enjoying time with our friends.
Though we didn't run like a crazy Tippi (ala the Birds!) I did get the most awesome doll ever for my birthday from the Valentino's...my very own Tippi Hedren doll, I love her (the birds attacking her give it a nice touch). Not to mention the happy childhood memories breath spray majorly rocks!

Hawaii
Topic: Travels April 7th- 12th we made our annual trek to Hawaii, choosing Oahu again (could that have been LOST related? hmmm...)
We also took some time to become shark bait. Here is a highlight off the role from the swim with shark time about 15 miles off the North Shore
We had a blast, and kept our vacation very low key in Waikiki this year. I literally was a beach bum at the resort. aloha!

Well Adjusted
Topic: Travels
Since our return, we have been adjusting back to life as "normal"- 10 day vacations are the best! (and the worst for playing catchup) Here are some highlights of our time in NYC.-- Be patient heavy pic-post to load. Letterman!
Central Park.
Shopppppping! We tried to help the NYC economy a little, especially during the horrible DOW plunge time. I really enjoyed shopping at Uniqlo where I got to meet Wakamaru. This interactive computer actually turned and posed for my photo... creepy AI. -Note the best Cashmere deals at Uniqlo. With Mr. Mark in tow we hit the amy-hitlist :
Two of our favorite spots-- that we highly recommend- Bryant Park--- eat at 'wichcraft ![]() And inside
I want this installation for amyville headquarters some day. How can you not smile when you see this? Amyville <3s NY!

We are back
Topic: Travels
Here is a pic Mr. Mark snapped about a block from our hotel in Times Square. I am a huge fan of the Naked Cowboy, and he told me that he liked my hair. We had a great time in the city with a highlight of being in the FRONT row for the David Letterman show, wooohooo! Pictures and highlights to follow tomorrow evening, I am tired.

Caribbean Queen
Topic: Travels
We just returned from 8 days in Aruba. This was our first time to the Caribbean-- the water is so blue! We stayed on Palm Beach at the Westin Resort. Iguanas roam all over the resort grounds, and are quite friendly. Here is one that was diggin' my knitting on the veranda. I named this one Melvin.
One of the highlights of our trip was dinning on the beach at sunset, with our feet in the sand

Extreme!
Topic: Travels After hearing about our friend Betsy's adventures in Eloy last weekend... we made our trip to Eloy to do some indoor skydiving at SKYVENTURE AZ. This place is awesome. You literally walk in the door, take a 15 min training class (manuevers, techniques -hand signals and all) and suit up in the gear and play! We got some great hang time in the tunnel and have an awesome video for the family archives. At the end of the session the trainer takes us up to spin about 20 feet in the air and we perform acrobatics I snagged a couple pics from the video-- the first one is Mr. Mark prior to a double 360 turn
This was BLAST, and next stops will sky diving for real and a ride on a vomit comet at zero gravity!

Some Mondays are harder than others
Topic: Travels Especially when it is a Monday after a FUN weekend in Los Angeles! Mark and I had a blast shopping, eating, visiting, and more shopping on our trip. At the Hertz rental counter they offered us an upgrade from the Prius we had reserved...how could we say no to this?
One new find on this trip was the Good Earth Restaurant in Studio City- where we met our friends Lauren and her husband Craig for breakfast. Totally yummy food!

LOST and found
Topic: Travels We just returned from a quick island getaway to Oahu- and here is the view from our hotel on Waikiki we left behind
Inbetween boogie boarding, swimming, shopping, and eating...we squeezed in a 5 hour LOST tour-- here are a couple highlights-- warning for the hard core LOSTies--- but I have included episode shots for reference (from abc.com) Season 1-- Amy (Shannon) hears the french woman's distress call on radio hill (ka'a'awa valley) will Mark (Sayid) listens in
![]()
![]() and the final scene of that episode (the other woman) shows Juliet and Jack kissing outside the tempest entrance
We hit over 20 LOST filming scenes and have a ton of great pics- also got some great Jurassic Park and Godzilla movie shots too, most of our tour was on private property offroading in a hummer-- so fun! Aloha!

Back from the BIG APPLE
Topic: Travels We have returned from our vacation--- a whirlwind 10 day trip that started in Chicago- then Purdue-land (game 1)- then Chicago- then New York City for 5days- then back to Chicago- then Purdue-land (game 2)- then Chicago-- and home to Phoenix. We saw old friends at Purdue, and enjoyed New York City for the first time! We are addicted. We stayed in Times Square (Broadway/ 47th St) and combed Manhattan-- I think we walked half the "island" and the subway became second nature. A few highlights-- a local fixture in Times Square...naked cowboy....
Central Park --Strawberry Fields and John Lennon Memorial...
Lots of shopping-- loved the Hermes store and Tiffany's the most! And SOHO has a lot of hidden treasures...including the PURL dynasty... Purl Soho (thank goodness yarn packs well-- I brought lots back!)
and sister store Purl Patchwork is amazing too! I had a PEANUT (ala Hillary) sighting....
I had lots of flash backs-- ala Sesame Street visions from childhood (I LOVED that set!)-- I kept thinking I would see Mr. Hooper's store around the corner! :)
