Pike Fishing in North-East Scotland

INVERNESS-SHIRE

Loch Arkaig - Fort William

Pike

Extreme west end of the loch appears to be the most productive area.

Loch Cluanie - Invercarry

Pike

South of the A87 Invermoriston - Kyle of Lochalsh Road.

Loch Garry

Pike

Has not fished well for a few years but worth a cast.

Loch Loyne

Pike

Fish to 18 lb caught on lures, dead baits and live baits produce well.

Loch Ness

Pike

Fort Augustus - where the canal enters
- where the River Oich enters
Invermorriston - where the River Morriston enters
Drumnadrochit - Urquhart Castle
Dores and Strathdores
Permission easily obtained for most areas but written permission required for Invermorriston

River Morriston

Pike

4 miles upstream from Invermorriston. Permits from Glen Morriston Estate.

ABERDEEN-SHIRE DISTRICT

Loch Kinord

Pike

Lots of smallish ones. Rumour has it that they are there to over 20lbs. Respond well to artificial lures and dead-baits. Limited access, South and North (very shallow) shores only - nature reserve, banks very overgrown. Day ticket #5, - Dinnet Estates office in the old station building at the cross-roads during office hours, or from the Keeper's house (first house on left after leaving Dinnet). Kinord permit requires car registration number

Loch of Skene

Pike

Free permit by application only to Dunecht Estates, issued in January. Unfortunately must kill every pike caught. Only part of the shore can be fished from - details with permit. Very shallow loch, tremendous wildlife.

Aboyne Loch

Pike

Problem with power boats (home of Aberdeen water ski club). Day ticket from caravan site around #4. Not allowed to fish from the caravan site shores or from the golf course. Where you can get in is not particularly ideal pike holding water, clean rocky bottom, lots of restrictions.
