Overall Grade: A- (92%) Good, some brief undetailed nudity, swearing and violence.

Heather's Gestalt review

Gestalt. OOH! I UTTERED THE HORRIBLE NAME!! WHAT WILL BECOME OF ME NOW?
Anyway, that probably made no sense to you because I haven't explained the plotline yet. ^_^

Gestalt is about a priest named Father Olivier. He works at a church and what not, with other priests. They work hard to pray for people and keep the gods happy. For some reason, they believe in a Lord or God. Yet there are 8 gods watching over that world. Hmm... Anyway, Olivier talks to Father Messiah. He says that he must leave, because he wants to strengthen himself by traveling to the place called "G." This would be Gestalt, but no one can SAY that. Why? Because, so the legend goes, many years ago, the god Gestahlt got angry and put a curse on anyone who said the name of his continent, "Gestalt." Father Messiah warns Olivier not to go, because if someone cannot say the NAME of G, then what would happen if they were to GO to G? Father Olivier does not listen, nor does he care. Off he goes on his journey.

While staying in a small town, a woman asks him to perform a miracle. Father Olivier gladly obliges, and makes trees blossom. This absolutely amazes the entire town (to which I say, "Get a life. They're Sakura. It's not like you've never seen them before. Pink, pretty flowers aren't that wonderful..."), and the innkeeper woman gives Father Olivier a present in return for the joy he brought them. This would be a mute, pink-haired girl (she mumbles, but a little blue box pops up on the screen telling people what she's saying, so everyone knows). The innkeeper woman ever-so-graciously informs him that the girl is a virgin, because she checked her out herself... Blech...

Father Olivier doesn't want to take this girl, but he does anyway. All he wants to do is find G, and hope that nothing bad happens along the way. Weeeeellll, he's hoping for too much... after all, he's got a chick with him who can't talk! What was he expecting? During their travels through a forest, he figures out where this mystery woman is from... and as he's seeming to piece the puzzle together, a Dark Elf named Suzu attacks them. It also seems that she was sent by Father Messiah to bring Father Olivier back to the church. Olivier refuses to go back, so Suzu threatens to kill them... and the mute girl wants to help out. She tells Father Olivier through her little blue box that if he dispels her, she can save them. Of course, the only way to do this is to kiss her, so he does.

That's just the start. She keeps demanding throughout the movie that he kiss her again, so her full power can be released. As they continue to travel, they run into more and more complicated problems. People are unholily (is that a word?) killing each other, and Father Olivier must try to help them as well as outrun the dark elf Suzu to keep on his journey to Gestalt.

There's some swearing, brief (but undetailed) nudity, blood, violence, and some sexual references.

Heather's ratings

Storyline

5/5 It was pretty good.

Character Development

5/5 Good. There was not one ugly man in the show (with exception of the king and some faces in the audiences ^_^)

Plot Depth

5/5 I think it was deep enough to get a 5.

Music

5/5 Actually, it was very good.

Sexual Content

4/5 Some references to it.

Nudity

4/5 There was about one quick shot of undetailed nudity.

Violence/Gore

4/5 There was violence, bleeding, blah blah blah.

Animation

5/5 Very good... but the computer animation didn't really fit very well with the regular. I don't know what it was, but in the beginning, it looked really cheesy...

Profanity

4/5 They swear a couple of times.

Overall goodness

5/5 It was good.

Totals: 46/50, it was pretty good. There were some funny scenes, some weird scenes, dramatic ones, yadda yadda yadda. Also, fangirls, there wasn't any male nudity... but MAN, there were PRETTY BOYS EVERYWHERE! Not ONE of the characters who played a larger role in the show was unattractive. They were all incredibly bishonen-ish!

Megan's Gestalt Review

Well, for starters, this one looked SO CHEESY! I really thought it was going to be bad. It wasn't. It was surprisingly good! And full of beautiful men, jee jeee. (that's hee heee) There was Father Olivier (oh-lihve-ee-ay), Soushi, and many others. Every single guy was very pretty. This was done by AnimeWorks, so all the voices from Magic Knight Rayearth (if you've seen it, you'll recognize them) are in it. The dubbing is really cheesy, so I say try to see it subbed, although I've not seen it subbed.

Okay! Well, for the plot, it's about this magical priest, named Father Olivier. He leaves to go to the magical island of G. No one can utter G's real name, or bad things shall be descended upon you like plagues of raisins. Anyway, that didn't happen. SO Father goes off and stops by a town. There, he performs a miacle and a lady leaves a token of thanks. This would be a slave girl who can't talk. A little box pops up evey time she says something. (like, "I'm delicious!") Olivier ends up taking her with him. But as they are running along, going to the island of G, a magical Dark Elf stops them. (by the way, the slave girl's name is Ohri) She was sent by Father Messiah, or the head dude back at the church, to get Father Olivier back home. As Ohri and her battle it out (for a few seconds), she casts a fire spell on them. Ohri begs Father Olivier to kiss her and break the spell of silence. So he does, and she blows Suzu (the Dark Elf) away. They find evil things a happening in a town and decide to stop it. Ohri knows the king, and eventually they fight and stuff, proving that Ohri is a little more than just some weird old slave chick from way down south.

Megan's ratings

Storyline

5/5 Well, much better than I thought it was going to be.

Character Development

5/5 Lots and lots, I'm sure. Olivier prays a TON!

Plot Depth

5/5 Well, it was deep in a shallow sort of way. If you're totally Christian and balh blah balh! then don't bother. This centers a lot around Christianity, even more than Evangelion. Being the main guy's a priest and stuff. . . he prays to God and maybe you even get to See God! (God wears duct tape. Well, not in THIS partivcular one. Lain proved that)

Music

5/5 It was surprisingly good, much like everything else but the dubbing in this gem.

Sexual Content

4/5 Well, they mention that Ohri is a virgin and some lady checked that out herself! (wow. The things people will tell you) She must be delicious! Ohri announces that she's delicious. She also tries to sell her body. As in, PROSTITUTION!

Nudity

4/5 Well, Ohri floats naked for a few seconds.

Violence/Gore

4/5 You almost never see the actual person bleed. It's more like dramatic red splats on the screen, with a black dramatic background.

Animation

5/5 Very digital and good, but it was WEIRD!

Profanity

4/5 Just your normal run-of-the-mill words.

Overall goodness

5/5 A good story, and then there are, , , the pretty men. Fangirls should definetly see it! Pretty men galore. Of course, there was always the interesting characters and stuff, but fangirls should be all over it.

Totals: 46/50, Loverly-doo!

TOTALS PUT TOGETHER: 46/50.

Comments: Gestalt is a movie that is more aimed at females. Why? PRETTY MEN. Well, gay guys like pretty men too. So you guys can be included. Anyway, with lots of pretty men, a love story, magical people, and cool monsters and dramatic secrets (scoff, we know it from the beginning!), you are sure to enjoy it. PRETTY MEN FOREVER! Oh yes, and watch this thing subbed! The voices are really cheesy-like in the dubbed version, but that's because AnimeWorks did it.
