Heather's Serendipity: The Pink Dragon Review

Okay. You start off on this ship, and are introduced to Bobby and his parents. Bobby's parents are scientists, doing work studying Antarctica. Bobby decides that he must go to bed (even though he doesn't want to) and meets up with a talking bird, who says her name is Peela Peela. She asks Bobby to free her, which he does. And that's all about that.

The next day, while on a routine expedition, an avalanche occurs, killing all of the people on the island except Bobby. He manages to fall on a piece of iceberg that detached and floats away on it. He floats into the pacific ocean (don't ask how he got there from Antarctica... it confused me too) and is brought by the current to an island. There he finds Peela Peela and some other creatures. Bobby realizes that the iceberg melted, and he was floating on a giant pink spotty egg. So the egg hatches, and out comes a giant pink dragon/dinosaur. Her name is Serendipity, named by the talking rocks on the island. The island is guarded by these rocks, and they foretell the future. The rocks say that she is Neptune (which is actually the Roman god of the Sea... not a pink dinosaur... but that's okay, too...), and is the guardian of the seas. That matched perfectly. Anyway, the island is governed by a Princess, and her name is Laura. She doesn't say much, or show her presence anywhere very often. She doesn't like humans, and therefore says that Bobby cannot stay on the island with the rest of the lovely people.

Bobby ends up saving someone that the island cares deeply about. Serendipity is taking him to a nearby island, and on the way, they run into Lord Winston (Princess Laura's ex-counselor), caught in a pirate's net. They save him, and then are allowed back onto the island. The pirate figures out this is the Mystery Island he has been searching for, and wants to get all the "treasure" hidden there.

There is absolutely nothing offending in the movie, except for the scenes in the beginning. People die, although it only shows them falling into the ocean. Also, the Pirate Captain, Smudge, gets drunk. Although they never come out and show that directly, he hints at it, and the older audience can pick up on that.

Heather's ratings

Storyline

5/5 Yes, I liked it. It's a little kids show, Americanized, but that's okay. It's CUTE.

Character Development

5/5 Everyone was nice and lovable. Even that naughty Peela Peela. ^_^

Plot Depth

5/5 Keep in mind, this is a kids show. It can't get too deep, or they won't understand it. It actually had some unique things in it, such as why the aquanots cried. Typical anime thing, though ^_^

Music

5/5 Music was going constantly. It faded in and out well, and fit the scene for the most part. Although it was incredibly cheesy and loud...

Sexual Content

5/5 No.

Nudity

5/5 Uh.... no.

Violence/Gore

4/5 Just the scene mentioned in the beginning, although that was not gory at all. And Smudge shoots things, although not living. Oh wait, he wanted to kill Bobby... and he shot FLOWERS!

Animation

4/5 Not all that great. It was a kids show, though, so no need to impress them with fancy graphics. Also, it was made around 1989, so it wasn't gonna be computer-enhanced anyway.

Profanity

5/5 No. They call people things like "Blowhard," and "Hammer-head."

Overall goodness

5/5 Good for a kids show. It's really geared towards the audiences that are between 4-10 years old, but I still liked it... -_-()

Totals: 48/50, if you can get ahold of it, then see it. If you like cheesy movies, that is. This film was originally made by the Fuji Eight Company, but was dubbed by Just For Kids video. If you have ever heard of them, you may want to investigate. This tape is RARE.

Megan's Serendipity: The Punk Dragon Review!

HEY, SMUDGE! SMUDGE, THAT'S MEEEE! The coolness of Captain Smudge. Okay, the plot: Bobby goes to island on egg. Egg hatches. Big pink blob comes out of egg and glows dramatically. Bobby is in awe and says "AHHHHHHHHHH!" As if we needed him to announce that "WOW! THERE'S A BIG PINK GLOWING BLOB!" Well, her name is Serendipity. She is sweet and demure, as always. Princess Laura (or something like that) does not liiike Bobby and tells him to screw off! Just kidding-she tells him he has to leave, he's a human boy and BLAH BLAH BLAH. So, in turn, Smudge tries to find the island. Does he succeed? WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO OUR HEROES?? Not that I would care... Watch IF you can get a HOLD of this "gem"... *scoff*

Storyline

5/5 Bland and predictable, but it's a kid show, whaddya expect? EVANGELION??

Character Development

5/5 Beautiful and all that crap.

Plot Depth

5/5 If you try REAL hard, maybe you can find something.

Music

5/5 Cheesy goodness.

Sexual Content

5/5 Yes, of course! That princess, I tell ya! She just.. okay, there was none at all.

Nudity

5/5 OH YEAH! That naked Serendipity, she just turns me on! *so gorgeous, got me all excited) You realize that this is SARCASM!

Violence/Gore

4/5 Not really.. only a death or two, not graphic at all.

Animation

5/5 No problems here!

Profanity

5/5 Yeah, they like to shout obscenities to each other over who gets the last talking coconut.

Overall goodness

5/5 Decent, but incredibly CHEESY AND PREDICTABLE! No real offending things, except a few deaths which are just rolling down an iceberg screaming "AHHHHHHHH!". and "BOBBY! HELP US!" While Bobby was rolling down the other side screaming "AHHHHHH!"

Totals: 49/50, that sexy Smudge.. I want him so bad....
