Related to the Whiteman Family?

Some families know a great deal about their roots; others know very little. This site is an attempt to record what we have learned about our family history. In these modern times, families tend to be scattered all over the country, if not the world. One of the goals of this web site is to help our family stay connected even though we live far apart.

On this page I'll provide a little information about who I am and what inspired me to do this research. Most of this information was probably obtained from talking to living relatives and from researching public records. In the course of doing this research, I've discovered that I have many more relatives than I ever thought possible!

This is a work in progress, so please contact me if you have any information that might help round out the picture.

No one is able to research their family history without a little help. We have met many "cousins" on our journey who have been most helpful, and websites have been very useful in filling in the blanks. The wonder of it all is how we, as strangers, strive to help one another. We hope this website does the same for another.

Our cousin, Floyd Whiteman, gave this collection real help by providing the first information about the family. He took the time to put down what he knew in depth. We owe him our gratitude! Most recently another cousin, Sandra Grove, came into our life with pictures from the past. Needless to say it was a real pleasant surprise. As far as the Kirk family information is concerned, Marvin's sister Irma Dryden brought back copies of a diary that belonged to Julia Kirk, setting that family branch of information into motion.
Since Anne's family is also included, many thanks go to Aunts and Uncles and her parents for threads of family history. Harvey Elrod, at age 62, was found by his real sisters (he was adopted) and that brought a wealth of there to fore unknown information to light.
As you can see, walking the path to family history is not walked alone ... thank goodness!

We are blessed by having quite a few old photographs of our family. Be sure to look through our site for these visual records of our history!
