One Southern Family - Jefferson and Franklin County,
Mississippi

Welcome
Some People come into our lives and quickly leave,
while some stay awhile, leaving footprints
on our hearts
and we are never the same.
I would like to dedicate these pages to two very special
people who touched my life in a very special way and taught me that Family
is more than just a word.
On a rainy winter day in late December, 1964, I was
introduced to the fascinating world of family history by a tiny little
lady, who at that time, was already 70 years young! As I sat at her
knee and listened to the wonderful tales she told, I became more and more
excited about the idea that you could actually find bits and pieces of
history and painstakingly put them all together and create a priceless
legacy for future generations to treasure.
She had been a school teacher for many years but she
never had a more grateful student than me.
The other very special person in my life was my
father-in-law. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 83 of cancer.
He is greatly missed by all of us.
He contributed a great deal of the information on these
pages in the way of anecdotes and stories about the people and history of
the Geoghegans in Mississippi.
These pages are lovingly dedicated to the memory
of:
"Aunt Dee"
Cordelia Carothers Geoghegan
Born: April 4, 1894
Died: July 14, 1987
and
"Papa"
Archie David Vaughan Geoghegan
Born: September 13, 1915
Died: October 17, 1997
May their legacy continue for generations to come.
