Faith vs. Fact
Mood:  party time!
Most who believe in the intelligent design theory wouldn't know intelligence if it walked up and bit them in the ass. They should just retreat into their little make-believe world with their special imaginary friends and leave the science to the grownups.

Do science and Christianity conflict? (sometimes known as Chrisitianity)

The Hurricane that went somewhere else
Mood:  lazy
The hurricane took a right turn and missed my house by 50 miles. But I didn't even get a drop of rain. On Saturday night there was a steady stream of traffic on the road in front of the house - headed North. I wondered if I had missed something, and then decided not to load 6 dogs into the car and run for the hills. I would have missed some very pleasant weather.

Missing children update
Mood:  vegas lucky
It looks like there aren't 2400 children missing. The Red Cross rep now says there are only 3 and they aren't really missing.

Hurricane
Mood:  quizzical
Hurricane heading for my house. I'm 300 miles inland but they are saying 65 mph winds here, 4-6 inches rain. Good thing they didn't repo the boat yet.

City of the Lost Children
Mood:  d'oh
The latest news coming out of New Orleans is that 2400 children are missing.
How do you lose 2400 children?
Apparently someone had to survive to report them as missing. And if they are OK then where did they leave their kids?
"Well, we were evacuating the city and when I looked around I realized we had forgotten to bring the kids! If anyone sees them just let us know."

Texas county defies First Amendment rights
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
AMENDMENT I , The Bill of Rights, Passed by Congress September 25, 1789. Ratified December 15, 1791.

Mclennan County commisioners have banned parking on 23 miles of roads near the Bush Crawford, Texas ranch.
Apparently the people can still peaceably assemble to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, but only if they walk to get there. Same goes for the press.

China Typhoon
Mood:  quizzical
Apparently typhoons in China are so common that hundreds of deaths, hundreds of thousands of homes being destroyed, and millions of homeless people don't have much impact on their economy nor do they deserve a lot of press coverage. I realize that China is still a closed society, but what would they have to gain by not ranting and raving and crying and whining and blaming their politicians?
Another Typhoon
In fact, 3 days after the latest typhoon it's hard to even find any news about it.

Typhoon strikes China
I've haven't seen any news coverage of this on CNN, Fox, or any other TV news show, but a typhoon has hit the China coast, killing a hundred people, wiping out 20,000 homes, and over a million people were evacuated from coastal areas. Does this sound familiar?
It looks like a Chinese disaster is not as important as an American disaster.
I wonder how the Chinese FEMA is coping with a domestic catastrophe.

National Economic Crisis Hits Home
Mood:  irritated
I wanted to use my credit card to make my credit card payment, but because I was late with my credit card payment they suspended my credit card. Hey! Do you want your money or not?
