Grace Cathedral InfoGrace Cathedral Photographs
Grace Cathedral is the Cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of California. Grace Cathedral is located on the top of Nob Hill at California Street & Taylor Streets. Grace Cathedral was built in the Gothic style and represents this style of architecture both inside and outside. One interesting feature the cathedral boasts are imitations of two very famous bronze doors designed by Ghiberti. Ghiberti used the laws of mathematics to create three dimensional effects on a two dimensional surface. The original doors can be seen on the Baptistery in Florence just across form Florence's Gothic Cathedral. Grace Cathedral is on the top of one of the most scenic hills in San Francisco, right along the California cable car line. The cathedral sees its fare share of tourists for both the views and the doors. In my humble opinion, this cathedral in just as impressive as some of the gothic cathedrals in Europe. (And I've seen a few).
