Alexander Rankin was born about 1628 in Scotland and died 1689 in Ireland or Pennsylvania.

He married Agnes Reid. She was born about 1624 in Perthshire, Scotland.

Their children were:

Alexander Rankin (born 1655; died 1698)

William Rankin (born about 1668 in Scotland)
