George Rankin was born County Derry, Ulster, Ireland and died 26 January 1760 in Augusta Co, VA.

George Rankin received a land patent 20 August 1747 on the north side of Middle River and north of Beverly Manor but south of the present boundary between Augusta and Rockingham Counties. He was a member of the Old Augusta Stone Church. Children mentioned in will are Jean, Thomas, William, John, James, Robert, and Mary. Witnesses to will are James and Robert Craig and Theobald Mangham. Executors were Samuel Henderson and Thomas Patterson.

 

He married Martha Crawford. She was the daughter of William Crawford.
