Named one of the
web's "Ten Most Interesting Websites" by Model Railroader magazine

Appalachian Railroad
Modeling is a success because of the many contributors. Whether it's one photo or 50, a
single tidbit of info or a complete article, I'm thankful to each an every one of you
who's unselfishly added to the site to make it more useful to others. Thank you, and keep
it coming!
I'd like to extend a special thank you with this update to
Mr. Donald Haskel for giving ARM use of nearly 40 Appalachian coal hauling photos from the
60s and 70s. You'll notice several prototype photo pages that were previously very skinny
are now filled out including the B&O, C&O and WM. His photos are also
on the Chessie, Conrail,
Monongahela and N&W pages
among others.

There is a full list of site contributors (60+) on the "Contact ARM" page. If you are a
contributor, please take 2 minutes to verify your name is on the list and contact me so I can get
your most current e-mail address (I've had to turn away questions at times because I don't
have a contributor's current e-mail address). Also, if you would like viewers to be able
to contact you via e-mail through this website, please let me know in your e-mail. Thanks
again!

Welcome to Appalachian
Railroad Modeling! This site is a collection of prototype and modeling
information for those interested in scale trains and modeling the coal-hauling railroads
of Appalachia. Although not all-inclusive, ARM's focus is on the
railroads which haul coal in the states of Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia with
coverage expanding to Maryland and Pennsylvania. The primary roads currently covered are
the L&N, N&W, C&O, Clinchfield, Virginian and the Interstate (Southern) and
their successors with a focus on post-dieselization. ARM is
currently looking for material from people like you for all appalachian railroads, but
especially the B&O and WM.

Modeling information

intended to showcase the work of many Appalachian modelers. If you would like to include a
model or layout photo, click the "Contact ARM" link

Many links are provided on every page to make navigation easy. The basic
links are listed on the menu bar at left and at the bottom of every main page. Please
