Welcome to Appalachian
Railroad Modeling! This site is a collection of prototype and modeling
information for those interested in scale trains and modeling the coal-hauling railroads
of Appalachia. Although not all-inclusive, ARM's focus is on the
railroads which haul coal in the states of Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia with
coverage expanding to Maryland and Pennsylvania. The primary roads currently covered are
the L&N, N&W, C&O, Clinchfield, Virginian and the Interstate (Southern) and
their successors with a focus on post-dieselization. ARM is
currently looking for material from people like you for all appalachian railroads, but
especially the B&O and WM.
Prototype information
includes photos, rosters, track diagrams, etc. If you have any prototype photos or
information you would like to share with others via this site, or if you have a related
web page you would like to include on the "Links" page, please click the
"Contact ARM" link to the left.
Modeling information
includes model photos, how-to articles, and track plans. The "Models" pages are
intended to showcase the work of many Appalachian modelers. If you would like to include a
model or layout photo, click the "Contact ARM" link
