Sharyn McCrumb is a current bestseller who does not want to be stereotyped as a "mystery writer" (Lifford 1D). Her first novel was SICK OF SHADOWS. Others include SHE WALKS THESE HILLS, THE BALLAD OF FRANKIE SILVER, THE HANGMAN'S BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER, and MACPHERSON'S LAMENT. She is the winner of several awards including three Agatha Awards, the Edgar Award, "Best Appalachian Novel" for THE HANGMAN'S BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER and LOVELY IN HER BONES, the Nero Award, and two Macavity Awards.
