In loving memory of Ivo Shanks (October 22, 1979 - March 27, 2001).
From his first live performance in 1991 before an audience of 1200, to his present day residence in Boston, guitarist/ vocalist Pete Pidgeon has remained a consistent and progressive player in the independent music scene.
Over the past decade, Pete has organized such diverse ensembles as a didjeridoo trio, an Indian percussion duo, several rock outfits, a pair of jazz ensembles, a remarkable solo repertoire, and a hip-hop quartet. The music is classically melodic, lyrically approachable, and contains many passages of theoretical and technical ingenuity.
Pete spent two years at Mason Gross School Of the Arts at Rutgers and graduated with a jazz studies degree from SUNY New Paltz in May of 2000.
Most recently, he has been freelancing with such musicians as Andrew Barr of The Slip, the members of Miracle Orchestra, Jim Loughlin of moe., Brian O’Connell of Uncle Sammy, Dan Rockett, and other prominent musicians in both the national and Boston music scenes.
Performances at the 1997 and 1998 Harvest Moon Jamboree, Hemp Splash 2000, and the Vassar College Jazz Festival have seen Pete share the stage with such impressive acts as Richie Havens, Merl Saunders, Natty Wailer, David Nelson Band, Schleigho, Perfect Thyroid, and others.
Presently, Pete is working on an anxiously awaited solo cd which should be released in late 2001.
