How To Setup Signup Sheet for ARG Seminar

Example for Fall 2003 semester:

1. DATA file
Download "arg_sem_empty.dat" from  "ftp://ftp.tripod.com/arg_sem/cgi-bin/arg_sem_data/" folder;
    [ ] Task #1: Rename it to "arg_sem03fall.dat";
        - Transfer it back to "ftp://ftp.tripod.com/arg_sem/cgi-bin/arg_sem_data/" folder.
    (CAUTION: Keep the "Week99 Mr. Roboto..." line in the .dat file. Otherwise the .cgi will not locate the text properly)

2.CGI files
 Download the three .cgi files and calendar.htm from "ftp://ftp.tripod.com/arg_sem/cgi-bin/"

arg_sem.cgi,  The main page
arg_sem_add.cgi The signup acknowledgement page
arg_sem_pub.cgi The current list for public domain (without signup form)

    [ ] Task #2: Open the three files in a pure text editor
        - Replace all the strings  "arg_sem03spring.dat" for last semester in all 3 files to "arg_sem03fall.dat"
        - Transfer all the CGI files back to "ftp://ftp.tripod.com/arg_sem/cgi-bin/"
    [ ] Task #3: Modify calendar.htm for the current semester..
        - Transfer calendar.htm back to "ftp://ftp.tripod.com/arg_sem/cgi-bin/"

3. The secure entry link of this signup form with limited access is: http://mr-roboto.me.uiuc.edu/evps/evps_private/arg_sem_redirect.html

(I know this system leaves much to be desired. Improvements are welcome from anybody who really knows CGI, or ASP maybe?)
