Arms and Armor
The Armor Court, with its suits of armor, swords, halberds, daggers, and other medieval and later weapons, has always been a focal point of the museum.

Ancient Art
Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome are represented with superb statuary, mummy cases, reliefs, vase paintings, and precious objects spanning the period 3500 BC to AD 300.

Medieval and Islamic Art
Early Christian, Byzantine, Islamic, Romanesque, and Gothic art from AD 300 to 1500 form one of America's great collections, featuring the 3rd-century Jonah
Marbles and the famous Guelph Treasure.

Old Master Paintings
Major works from the various European schools from the 13th through the 18th centuries include masterpieces by Caravaggio, El Greco, Rembrandt, Rubens, Goya, Turner, and many others.

Sculpture, Decorative Arts, and Textiles
Sculpture, silver, furniture, and other three-dimensional arts by such famous masters as Canova and Rodin plus textiles from the museum's fine collection are on view throughout the galleries.

19th-Century European Painting
Major works span the entire century, from David, Ingres, Renior, and Delacroix to Monet and the Impressionists to Post-Impressionist masters van Gogh, Ce;zanne, and Gauguin.

American Painting
The collection features key works by Gilbert Stuart and other Colonial masters,
19th-century landscapists Church, Cole, and Homer, and innovative spirits of this  century such as Bellows and O'Keeffe.

20th-Century European Painting
A powerful group of works by Picasso and the Cubists forms the core of a collection that also includes major paintings by Matisse, Bonnard, Mondrian, Leger, Miro, and many others.

Contemporary Art and Photography
Post-World War II painters Gorky, Pollock, de Kooning, and Rothko set the stage for the generation of Kiefer and Rosenquist. Selected master photographs are on view.

Prints and Drawings
More than 16,000 prints and drawings of the highest quality trace the history of art on paper from the mid 15th century to the present. Various works are on view.

Asian Art
A museum-within-a-museum, the world-renowned Asian galleries exhibit one of the finest collections of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, and Southeast Asian art in the Western Hemisphere.

Art of the Americas, Africa, and Oceania
The finest Maya collection in the U.S. is here, with outstanding ancient American gold and textiles and beautifully carved African masks and religious objects.
